Deepinder Goyal, formerly the CEO of Zomato, recently announced the launch of a startup called Temple, a neurotechnology wearable. A few weeks ago, TechCrunch profiled the company as it announced a $54 million friends and family funding round that valued the company at $190 million.
Notably, Temple was wisely launched on its brand matching Temple.com domain name. Prior to the launch of Temple, the Temple.com domain name had been owned by domain investor Braden Pollock. Whois records show that Braden acquired the domain name in early 2021. It was previously owned by Georgia-Pacific.
When I reached out to Braden with some questions about the sale, he told me he was unable to share much about it. He did confirm that the domain name was sold for seven figures, and the buyer was represented by a buyer-side broker. It looks like he sold it at the end of 2024, when it transferred to 101Domain under Whois privacy, according to DomainTools’ Whois history tool.
Temple.com is another good illustration of a valuable one word .com domain name that can be branded in a distinctive manner. Although “temple” has a well known dictionary meaning, it is broad, memorable, and meaningful enough to support a wide range of branding concepts. That helps to explain why one word .com domain names like this continue to command strong interest and substantial sale prices. This is also another domain name that has a sale price that will go unreported due to confidentiality.
