Bodis sent an update to customers yesterday about recent performance impacts related to pay per click parking revenue. The company attributed the decline to a major change implemented by Google, which was announced earlier this year.
Google is now automatically opting out advertising on parked domain names. The result of the change is less PPC parking revenue for customers who use parking services like Bodis and its competitors.
Here’s the announcement from Bodis:
Update On Opt-Out Impact
You may have noticed an increased performance impact lately. This is primarily due to our upstream advertising provider’s advertiser AFD opt-out process, which began in 2024 and has shown greater effects over time, and in recent months. We anticipate that some advertisers may opt back in, though the long-term outlook remains to be seen.
We remain committed to closely monitoring the situation and will share updates as they become available. Thank you for your continued patience and support.
I have a few domain names that have consistently earned revenue from PPC parking, and they have definitely been impacted more recently. This isn’t a surprise given Google’s position, but it’s still a pretty big jolt. Thankfully, I do not rely on parking revenue for anything significant, but I am sure this is hurting some domain investors who do.
It is unclear how things will shake out in the future since parking revenues have continued to drop over the years without much of an alternative for domain names with significant traffic.
Parking is Dead
Many many bloggers are not making money
AI is giving paid sponsors on the top of the list
Parking is pretty gone now.
Google had the power and killed it.
There are many alternatives, you don’t have to rely on Google, and AI has damaged the domain park system of that time.
Bodis should look into the big business in mobile advertising; it’s the most widely used market worldwide.
The mobile advertising market size was valued at USD 214.59 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow from USD 262.84 billion in 2025 to USD 1,005.96 billion by 2032.
