There’s a major AWS outage that is causing problems for websites and web-based services around the world. GoDaddy is one of those businesses that is impacted by the outage, I learned this afternoon.
When I visited one of my Afternic-listed domain names that resolves to a GoDaddy landing page, the incorrect landing page was shown. Instead of the newer “custom” landing page with BIN, Make Offer, and Lease to Own options shown, the older BIN landing page was displayed. This particular landing page doesn’t include camel casing.
I checked a few different domain names that should utilize the custom landing page design, and none of them showed it properly. I posted about this on X to see if others noticed the same issue – and to notify others about the potential issues:
It doesn’t look like the correct landing page designs are showing for @afternic listed domain names on @GoDaddy. Can anyone else confirm?
Here’s one example of a lander that should be the custom landing page but is not.

In response, the Afternic account on X replied that the issue is known by the company and it is related to the AWS outage:
Thanks for flagging this, Elliot. This is caused by the AWS outage today. However, all domains remain live, functional, and available for purchase as usual.

Importantly, all domain names are reportedly still functioning and prospective buyers and leads can still purchase domain names or inquire as usual.
I don’t know if other GoDaddy services are impact, but if you’re reading this post, my hosting service is still working as it should. It is unclear when the landing page issue will be resolved by Afternic and GoDaddy.
the few domains i still park use smartname dns and do resolve
Amazing
They don’t have a backup or a redundant system…
It will happen again and again…to Google cloud too
Mind boggling
