Atom.com Begin Adding “Domain Talk” to Domain Names

I have a bit more than 100 domain names listed for sale on Atom.com, and a handful are listed on its Ultra Premium Marketplace (UPM). This afternoon, I received an email from Atom informing me that “Domain Talk” was added to Tangy.com, which is one of my UPM-listed domain names.

According to the email I received, Domain Talk is “a quick, spoken take on what makes the name great.” The Domain Talk graphic and play button are located below the fold on the landing page. I presume the Domain Talk feature is different for each domain name, but I only have it on one of my domain names so far.

This is a neat AI generated feature that won’t detract from the landing page. I assume Atom will be tracking the lift on landing pages featuring Domain Talk, and if it proves to be successful, I suspect it will roll out across more domain names on its platform.

Feel free to visit Tangy.com to listen to the Domain Talk feature.

Here’s the email I received with more details about Domain Talk.

Just a quick heads-up. We added a short audio overview to the landing page of Tangy.com – a quick, spoken take on what makes the name great.

We are calling this new feature Domain Talk. The idea is to give buyers a more engaging way to experience the name by actually hearing its brand potential. It is still in Beta, but we think it can help boost interest and improve sell-through rates.

We’re also testing a few audio and video ads to highlight domains with this feature — just a pilot to explore new ways of driving more exposure and interest.

If you’d rather not have the audio on your domain or prefer to skip the beta, just let us know and we’re happy to remove it.

Check it out live on the landing page and thanks for being part of Atom

  1. I feel like this is a bit like throwing AI crap at the wall to see what sticks.

The music in the audio is so loud its hard to hear the speaker. I had to turn it off after 15 seconds. This is one of the down sides of AI generated content, it’s fast, it’s endless, but no one actually goes through it to see if its done well because that takes forever.

I don’t know how useful it is to have this cheap AI generated “noise” in everything. Do consumers really care about this or is it a distraction that causes them to just close the page? We’ll see.

    • I agree, but I think it’s good to test, and Atom has shown that it tracks everything it tests.

If it doesn’t provide a lift, I would imagine they will cut it.

  2. Atom’s use of AI for category and keyword selection always seems to need a bit of fine tuning, but their application of Domain Talk to the lander of CalmMeds.com is nothing short of poetic. Shockingly good!
IDK if it will improve STRs overall, but it may extend the amount of time that visitors spend on a lander, thinking about a domain, and so in that aspect Domain Talk may boost sales.
Hopefully Atom will allow users the option to regenerate a voice piece, and to turn it off in cases where it’s inconsistent with the tone and intent of the listing.
