Amazon Acquires AmazonFarts.com

I was looking through my morning DomainTools Registrant Alert email, and I saw an amusing domain name that caught my attention. I hate to toot Amazon’s horn, but the company is now the registrant of AmazonFarts.com, a domain name that was created in August of 2020.

The AmazonFarts.com domain name is currently registered at MarkMonitor, a brand protection service Amazon uses for many of its domain names. You can have a look at the current Whois record here to see that Amazon is the registrant of AmazonFarts.com:

While it would be hilarious to think of the ways Amazon is planning to use this domain name, I doubt this was an acquisition with a product or service launch in mind. My guess is that this was defensive in nature.

In looking at the historical Whois records, it appears that AmazonFarts.com was originally registered under Whois privacy at Amazon’s domain registrar, Amazon Registrar, Inc. My guess is that Amazon caught wind of the registration, and its legal team worked with the registrant to secure the domain name. It is notable that Amazon allows registrants to register Amazon domain names at its registrar though.

At the time of publication, AmazonFarts.com does not resolve to any website.

  1. One a more serious note, which amazingly is even possible with this, there is a graphical meme on Facebook I encountered recently about farting which actually does a good job of adding to all the other real science and truth out there showing how much the public has been lied to and deceived about the use of masks for the current “pandemic.”
