What Color .com is Worth the Most?

Yesterday, I published an article about Heritage Auctions brokering the Black.com domain name. I also linked to an article I wrote with quite a few publicly recorded  color .com domain name sales over the years. Some of those sale prices seem fairly strong and others seem like deals today.

I am curious about what readers think would be the most valuable color .com domain name in today’s market. For the sake of discussion, let’s confine this to “real” colors that are primarily colors. For instance, while “wine” is technically a color, Wine.com should not be considered when discussing the most valuable color .com domain name. You don’t need to limit this to primary colors though. Pink.com would be fine to consider.

If you had an unlimited amount of  money but you could only buy the most valuable color .com domain name, what name would you pick? I’ll share my thought about this in a comment later on so I don’t influence anyone too soon.

  1. Black.com!!!
Black is the most prestigious color there is.
Black is also always associated with luxury and privilege.
If only I had a million Dollars 🙁

    • Gold.com is also the first one that came to mind for me before I read the post.

However, you need to reread the post because that one does not qualify for consideration in this thread:

“For the sake of discussion, let’s confine this to “real” colors that are primarily colors. For instance, while “wine” is technically a color […]”

  2. I honestly can’t pick one as the most valuable, because a number of them are so strong and valuable for so many reasons, but I can say that in my view these are the ones that are at least tied for most valuable, in alphabetical order:

    Black, Blue, Green, Red, White

However, re Black.com I will say that it is obviously pure no-brainer blatancy that it is worth millions.

  3. Green by far. It’s a color but it also stands for earth, eco, environment, natural, organic, solar and a hundred other related things.

  4. Gold is my first choice…
If that is not considered a color…then…

    Orange is the new black…
they are both valued the same but orange has 15 times more searches than black…
    So orange is better

But i like red and pink much better…

    Final choice…

    PINK.com

  5. Red is good for a brand, fashion maybe. Someone said red has no negative connotations but, in my mind at least, it is associated with debt.

Green is good for various reasons listed above.

    Black is not a colour.

  6. I would definitely go for blue. It sounds very positive.

I do like black, but this color does have some negative connotations.

In any case, it would depend on which market I was targeting. Some colors are popular in certain countries but hated in others.

  7. Gold.com, Silver and other metal colors (Platinum, Copper, etc.) would for sure be valuable.

Pink.com would be popular because of girls but also because of the famous lingerie dealer’s line of clothing named that.

  8. Some tougher ones…

    Vermillion.com
    Magenta.com
    Turquoise.com
    Fuschia.com
    Violet.com
    Tangerine.com
    Grey.com
    Gray.com
    Bone.com
    Taupe.com
    Tan.com
    LimeGreen.com
    Bronze.com
    RoyalPurple.com
    RoyalBlue.com
    Navy.com
    Ivory.com
    Maize.com
    Chartreuse.com
    Olive.com
    Jade.com
    KellyGreen.com
    Teal.com
    Cream.com
    Beige.com
    Eggshell.com
    Champagne.com
    Cyan.com
    Mauve.com
    Avocado.com
    Amber.com
    Peach.com
    Coral.com
    Maroon.com
    Rust.com
    etc.

  9. Okay, so the cat’s out of the bag about GOLD, even though posting it here violates the “rules” of the question no less.

So just remember what I used to post frequently in the blogs about this new TLD:

    .GOLD

  10. Blue: is most loved color through the centuries (and my middle name). Green: is big for current environmental awareness/financial endeavors. Black has power with dark followers and black clothing trend are predominant. Red because it so happens to be a lll.com.

    As far as what order?
    Hard one, but, I’d say:
    red.com
    blue.com
    green.com
    black.com
pink.com Threw that in just because I’m a girl.

  11. I, personally, love Blue.

    However, “G” results:

    Blue 17,030,000,000
    Red 13,660,000,000
    Green 15,790,000,000
    Yellow 8,110,000,000
    Black 14,950,000,000
    White 14,680,000,000
    Gold 3,170,000,000
