Update on NameJet Maintenance Down Time (Updated)

If you have visited NameJet this afternoon to place a bid or backorder a domain name, you’ve likely been redirected to a maintenance message on the website. Visiting NameJet.com  redirects you to Maintenance.NameJet.com with the following message showing:

We’re sorry, but we were unable to process the redirection request for the site you are attempting to access.

If you feel that you are receiving this message in error, please check the URL and try your request again.

I reached out to the management team at NameJet and was given an update from Jonathan Tenenbaum, General Manager at NameJet:

Due to some unforeseen technical issues, all NameJet auctions scheduled to close today (7/6) are being pushed out 24 hours (to 7/7). We will provide additional information as it becomes available and thank everyone for their patience and understanding. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience caused by these issues.

I was told the company will be updating customers in an email, and they will also be providing an update on the company’s Twitter feed.

Once I hear back with another update from the company, I will publish it here. Hopefully the issue will be resolved shortly.

11:15pm Update:
Here’s an update from NameJet’s Jonathan Tenenbaum:

“Unfortunately, as of this evening we are still dealing with technical issues. We have a great team working very hard get our website up and running and we are hoping to have the site back online shortly. As we stated earlier, all auctions that were scheduled to close today (7/6) have been pushed 24 hours – to 7/7. For domains with the Pre-Release period ending this evening, some of those domains will have the Pre-Release period extended 24 hours. Due to system limitations, the Pre-Release period cannot be extended for all domains, so those auctions will be set to “public” to allow those who could not place backorders to still participate. Thank you to all of our customers for your patience and understanding. We should have more information available tomorrow morning and we will share it as soon as possible.”

  1. Hi Jeff,

We aren’t aware of any disruptions during the closing of the auctions yesterday (meaning within an hour of the end of any auction). However, we have heard from some customers who weren’t able to get backorders in prior to the close of the Pre-Release period last night. Either way please feel free to email me – jt(at)namejet.com – about any issues you were having to see if there is anything we can do to help. Thanks!

    • Jonathan,

There were intermittent problems with the website both yesterday and today around drop backorder deadline (12PM EST), beginning approximately an hour before. Same problems last night around the Pre-Release deadline and looking like problems tonight too.

    • Thanks Bill. We are still getting everything sorted out and our official update is below. We will likely be making a number of the impacted auctions “public” so that those who couldn’t get backorders in before the Pre-Release period deadline can still participate. Either way, we are hoping to have everything resolved shortly. Thanks again and please feel free to reach out with any other comments or questions.

      -Jonathan

  2. Yes. That’s the issue.

So what will happen to those pre release domains from last night?

Is website going be up tonight ?

  3. I figured they would have patched the problem by now.

It is 30 min. before the close of pre-release (Monday) and still no access.

Are you experiencing the same problem?

Will those pre-selections be postponed til tomorrow?

  4. Hello all,

Elliot posted this in the actual article (thanks Elliot!), but our official update is also included below. We are hoping to be back online shortly and we will look to take steps to mitigate the impact on the auctions and our customers. We will have more information early tomorrow and we will share it as soon as we can. Please let me know if anyone has any questions or comments in the meantime. I can be reached directly via email at jt(at)namejet.com, so please feel free to reach out. We are sorry for any disruption or inconvenience caused by the outage. Thanks everyone and have a nice evening.

    -Jonathan
