Uniregistry Introduces “The Domain Archive”

I received an email from Uniregistry this afternoon announcing a unique feature called “The Domain Archive.” Essentially what this does is allow you to track domain names you previously had registered at Uniregistry. It seems like a unique screen that could potentially be helpful.

Here’s what the introductory email said:

Domain name management just got even better with our new Domain Archive folder. View the status of all domains previously owned, redeem a domain or register a domain again if it is available — all directly from the Domain Archive. Access the Domain Archive from the Manage section of your account. Another time saving feature now available at Uniregistry.

Based on the Domain Archive screen in my Uniregistry account, I believe this shows the status of domain names previously owned by my company that were registered at Uniregistry and not other registrars. Because I haven’t had my Uniregistry account for all that long, it looks like the only domain names I have listed in my Domain Archive are names I sold and/or transferred out to other registrars. There aren’t any expired domain names listed there, so I couldn’t get a full view of the feature.

I don’t know why I would re-register a domain name I had let expire previously, but it would be interesting to track domain names I had let expire to see if they were re-registered. This would especially be beneficial for people with larger portfolios, whereas mine hovers around 500 domain names total across a few domain registrars. Instead of having to do Whois lookups manually, this feature would save some time. There seems to be quite a few search options, such as keyword, extension, length…etc.

  1. You’d be surprised how many people push delete or let expire only to wish they hadn’t. : )

The utility inside the archive won’t be visible to most customers until they start letting names expire. Here you’ll be able to track expiring names and even resurrect them from the dead using automated functionality to restore names before they go into the deletion cycle.

I don’t think there is another registrar which provides the absolute control over your inventory that Uniregistry does right now.

Oh ~ and for Shane Cultra, Outbound transferring Uniregistry names push automatically to the gaining registrar in 36 hours once transfers on both ends are approved, however a manual push/acknowledgement will be released very shortly which we will name after Shane as it was his suggestion/reminder ; )

    • Frank,

It’s refreshing to have a company implement things that were suggested to them. For us buyers and sellers, a quick transaction leaves the other party with a positive ending to the deal. And that’s good for business.

Thanks for listening. So much better than having a sandwich named after me. 🙂

  2. This is very powerful tool. I noticed that the suffix .services is always excluded from the search. Ex: I insert FOOD and in a few seconds I have these results 102 available and 148 taken (but the there is not food.services) I have searched for food.services and the results show 102 available and 149 taken. This is a little bug but the tool is terrific. Congrats
