Trumpet.com Hits $50k at NameJet

Trumpet.com is currently up for auction at NameJet, and the domain name just surpassed the $50,000 mark. The reserve price for this domain name has not been met yet.

As reported by DN Journal, in mid-2010, Trumpet.com sold for $31,250 at an auction run by Latonas.com. I did a bit of research on the domain name history, and it appears to have had at least two different registrants since the auction, although I don’t know if it was due to a sale or another circumstance.

Because this is a public auction at NameJet, interested buyers can jump in and bid at any time before the auction closes, unlike private NameJet auctions. The auction closes on Wednesday afternoon and will be sold if bidding hits the reserve.

  1. According to Namejet, Trumpet.com sold for $70,486 back in May of 2009.

It went to auction again last year but failed to hit reserve price (bid to $65,100)

  2. Good morning everyone,

Im curious aside from selling this domain what are some of the development potential ideas for this name? If you owned it how would you monetize it?

  3. Besides its obvious use as a musical term, this name screams “brandable” to me. I’d actually be very surprised if someone wanted it to build a product website. I could see it being used as a brand by a PR firm or anyone who dishes out marketing advice about “trumpeting” your brand. A quick Google search reveals that there are a number of PR companies (and an associated Twitter handle, etc.) using it for this purpose.
