The Perfect Usage for .Tattoo

I saw a Facebook update from TechCrunch with a video discussing an app called InkHunter. TechCrunch also published an article about the app. In short, InkHunter allows people  to use their  smartphone to see what a tattoo would look like on their  body before getting permanently inked with a  tattoo.

When I first saw  the article, my initial  thought was that this would be the perfect usage of the .Tattoo domain name extension operated by Uniregistry. I clicked on the embedded link within the article, and I saw that it directed people to the iTunes app store to download the app and learn more about the app. Once on the iTunes store, I hovered over the “Kateryna Khotkevych Web SiteInkHunter” link, and I see that the app is using InkHunter.Tattoo for its website.

In my opinion, this is the perfect usage of a .Tattoo domain name. InkHunter is an app that is directly related to tattoos, and InkHunter.tattoo makes sense. Because most people will simply visit the iTunes store to learn more about the app and to download it than the main website, there will be less confusion without the .com (which was registered back in 2007).

I am not a big proponent of new gTLD domain names when it comes to investment purposes, but InkHunter is an example of a good usage.
