Super Bowl: Name.com vs. Enom

The Super Bowl will be played by the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks on February 2, 2014, and you can bet that two sister domain registrars will be having fun with this rivalry over the next couple of weeks. Hopefully, domain registrants will benefit from some domain name coupon codes and deals as a result of the excitement (hint, hint).

Enom is located in Kirkland, Washington, a short distance from Seattle.  Name.com, which  was acquired by Demand Media in a deal  announced  in January of 2013,  is located right in Denver. Both companies are owned by Demand Media, which is based out of Santa Monica, California, and they are both expected to be part of DMD spin-off,  Rightside. The companies share a General Manager in Seattle-based Steve Banfield, who clearly roots for the Seahawks.

I am disappointed that my New England Patriots won’t be playing in the Super Bowl this year, but I was not surprised due to the significant number of injuries that struck key players. As a NFL football fan though, I think this is going to be a great game. If I happen to be wrong, at least the commercials will be good.

Rivalries like this can be good for bonding, and I am sure we’ll hear from the folks at Name.com and Enom throughout the next couple of weeks. I anticipate that Name.com will razz Enom quite a bit in their famous videos coordinated by Jared Ewy and his team.

Here’s to a good game and fun couple of weeks.

  1. Sorry about the Pats but we are all excited about the Seahawks and the Broncos in the Super Bowl. Several of our Name.com team were in Kirkland last week and they left us the “present” of lots of little Peyton Manning stickers hidden all over the office. I think we’re going to have to find them all before the big game.

I am a huge Seahawks fan but we are going to come up with some fun promotions to celebrate both cities and both teams. Stay tuned to @enom and @namedotcom on Twitter for details.

  2. I have no idea who to root for now since both are my favorite marijuana cities.

Maybe the only way to solve this dilemma is to pass the peace pipe around during the game,
