SSL Installed – Thanks to GoDaddy

I have regularly lauded GoDaddy for its exceptional customer service. I have been a customer of GoDaddy for 13+ years, and my customer service needs have ranged from simple domain registrations and transfer assistance to more complicated web hosting needs. I just had a SSL certificate installed on DomainInvesting.com, and it was installed thanks to the efforts of the team at GoDaddy.

About a year before rebranding my blog from ElliotsBlog.com to DomainInvesting.com, I moved my web hosting to GoDaddy. At that time, GoDaddy was ramping up its hosting business, and I knew I could trust the company to assist with the hosting migration and offer rapid support if issues ever arose. Since making that transition, I have run into very few hosting issues and/or downtime. When small issues arise, they are generally handled very quickly.

Recently, I decided I wanted to add a SSL certificate across the entire website. I knew there would be some technical hurdles to overcome, so I started off by adding a SSL to the WordPress admin section of the website. The intention was to make the entire website secure, but I had concerns that the addition of the SSL could cause technical problems as well as SEO issues.

Dating back to when DomainInvesting.com was ElliotsBlog.com, there were some fairly complicated technical issues that have arisen and been resolved as they came up. For starters, I had a htaccess file that contained thousands of redirects from the old url to the new one, and there were also legacy url redirects from when I had a different url structure. I also dealt with a few issues with plugins and various WordPress conflicts over the years. When issues arose, I usually asked for GoDaddy’s help troubleshooting since their knowledge was far superior to mine. They always helped me as best as they could – keeping in mind that they are my hosting provider and not my web developer.

When I wanted to implement a SSL certificate across the site, I needed some special assistance to ensure that the implementation didn’t cause any major issues on the site. The Premier Services team at GoDaddy worked with the company’s WordPress Support team to create a game plan to make changes to the site while avoiding data loss and downtime. The team executed on its game plan yesterday evening, and the transition was virtually seamless. DomainInvesting.com now has a SSL certificate and the entire website is secured with the certificate.

I want to give special thanks to Brian “Spike” Markham, Daniel Feuster, Deron Ruse, Joe Styler, and likely others who worked on the site behind the scenes. Implementing a SSL certificate was more complicated than usual, but the team at GoDaddy made it happen. I feel like the team at GoDaddy went above and beyond what I expected, and I sincerely appreciate their assistance. Their customer support has been top quality, and it is a big reason my business has grown with the company over the years.

  1. Now everyone else who is a Premier Services customer should ask their rep to do this and see if they get the same level of service.

  2. Outstanding! I agree, Premier Services goes above and beyond the call of duty. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with that. I’ve been with Godaddy since 2005 and a very loyal customer due to their excellent support when I needed it.

  3. I think what Mark Thorpe is saying is there was enough room on the back of the #10 NASCAR for his picture too.
