Porn Stars Without Makeup Going Viral – Matching Domain Name is Cheap

There’s a series of photographs called “Porn Stars Without Makeup” making their rounds on the Internet today. I’ve seen it several times on various sites – from Barstool Sports to the New York Post. In case you haven’t see it, the series is a bunch of photographs of pornstars without makeup compared to photos of them with makeup.

I am not exactly sure why it’s become such a hot topic, but there are many searches for it as well as mentions on Twitter, so there’s clearly interest.

As of right now, the matching domain name, PornStarsWithoutMakeup.com is listed for sale on Go Daddy with a purchase price of just $280. The domain name is privately registered, and it has a creation date of December 2011, so it’s probably a series that existed before but caught fire very recently. The domain name is currently parked at InternetTraffic.com, although it doesn’t have a traditional “for sale” link on the top of the landing page.

I haven’t bought adult names in a while, but a $280 investment seems pretty cheap for a hot topic keyword domain name. I don’t know the owner of the domain name, but my guess is that it’s not going to be available for long if you want to take a chance and grab it.

  1. These $280 domains that you see at Godaddy are usually the ones that Godaddy keeps themselves after the previous domain owner doesn’t renew. The name goes through the auction process at Godaddy and if not bought and Godaddy seems to think the name has value they will keep it, add privacy and relist at $280.

    • I beg to differ. The domain is owned by another owner who uses InternetTraffic. No way GoDaddy owns this domain name.

After the auction process is unsuccessful, the domain will eventually drop and be available to register without the domain age.

I don’t know about you, but I would rather want to own an aged domain than a new one. I watched a 2005 domain drop and now it lost it’s domain age.

GD does not own the domain name. IMO, it is not that good of a domain name to retain.

  2. There are some decent names with the keyword without makeup such as CelebritiesWithoutMakeup.com or PeopleWithoutMakeup or GirlsWithoutMakeup.com. Elliot do you have a few adult names in your portfolio or have you sold a few?

    • Todd,

How would you go about pricing this crappy name? I agree that the price is high but with interest from the media it seems to me that $280 is a bit low? What would you price this domain as?

    • They should have taken the $280 because in a week when the interest dies they won’t get any offers. They probably could of pushed out up to a $1,000 in my opinion right now but they killed it when they instantly bumped it to $4800 and its in privacy so nobody will make the effort to make an offer especially when its listed at that price. After all the hype they should have put a realistic buy now price of $1800-2800 but with the make offer option also and I can almost guarantee it would have sold and they could have got more than the original $280 they wanted. Elliot gave this crappy name great legs and when you have names like this you must sell when the irons hot because this name has no other use than for this one particular thing. If the name doesn’t sell soon I bet they drop it in a year.

  3. You reap but do not sow. Personally I don’t believe you actually reap either, I thinks it’s a pile of bogus bullshit. I registered faxus.com and faxus.net with Network Solutions in 1995 and used those domains in my business until a few years ago. Last year, just a few weeks before faxus.com was due to expire I received an offer to buy it. I responded to the offer but never received a reply. I think the email was a phony, designed to encourage me to renew the domain name at Network Solutions. I allowed faxus.com to expire, I think NS is still holding it. Faxus.net is due to expire next month. This morning Network Solution renewed it for me and made an unauthorized deduction from my checking account, a “one time” automatic payment is what they called it. I called them and told them that I did not authorize the charge and that I wasn’t going to renew the domain and I wanted the charge reversed. I never use auto payment, I never use auto-renew. Never. The call center lady begged me to change my mind, begged me to renew, practically told me I could name my own price. I am not the only person Network Solutions pulled this scam on. Network Solutions is a sinking ship. They are hemorrhaging domains. The business model is collapsing. The U.S. Government should have never sold it, excuse me, they GAVE it away. It deserves to die. It made some folks rich but the bad karma it spawned is coming back for the coup de grace. Adios Network Solutions. Burn in hell.

    • I want to add that back in 1995 I started my business in my home with my own servers configured by me and my business partner. We hosted our own sites and the sites of a few other entrepreneurs. Remember PSI Net and how they ran all over the country buying ISPs, turning into a big hosting company and the going bankrupt before they could even pay for all of the small ISPs they dragged into oblivion with them. I have watched as corruption and greed stifled the web at every turn and now it’s turned into a cash spigot for unscrupulous domain squatters and Internet speculators who are contributing nothing as they find opportunities to exploit and squander for no other reason than they can’t find a real job because at their heart they are isolated loners incapable of understanding the hard work that goes into making a REAL business successful. I dislike being so negative but my years of experience have taught me that when the folks at the top make a mistake or commit a crime, they will always blame the folks down the pipe. Cyber-squatting is inherently immoral if the goal is to disenfranchise the legitimate owner of a established name for the sake of profit. Venture Capitalism is inherently immoral if the people at the top are corporate rapists. This isn’t shades of gray, it’s good versus evil and if you can’t tell the difference between the two, you are lost. If you engage in evil destructive behavior long enough you will lose your soul and I sometime think that people who have lost their souls might no longer be “real” people and no longer deserving of the rights and protections afforded by God to “real” people. I hope you get my drift because if these soulless greedy bastards continue to behave badly, there will be retribution and I believe it will be a catastrophe brought upon humanity because some individuals have lost their compassion and their humanity.
