Pocahontas.com: Elizabeth Warren Wants to “Stop Trump”

President Donald Trump has been referring to US Senator Elizabeth Warren (my Senator) as “Pocahontas” for quite some time. In an event honoring Navajo veterans on Monday, the President once again referred to Senator Warren as Pocahontas:

“I just want to thank you because you are very, very special people. You were here long before any of us were here,” Trump said. “Although, we have a representative in Congress who has been here a long time … longer than you — they call her Pocahontas!”

Since mid-2016, Pocahontas.com has been forwarding to Senator Warren’s website, ElizabethWarren.com. The Whois information on Pocahontas.com is private, so the owner of the domain name remains publicly unknown. When I wrote about the forward last year, I was unsure whether it was being done as a prank on Senator Warren or done in support of her. I am still unsure, but it looks like Senator Warren and her staff are using this to their advantage.

If you visit Pocahontas.com right now, you will be forwarded to a page within Senator Warren’s website with a message that says “Join Elizabeth to stop Donald Trump.” The page has a fundraising plea along with fields to provide an email address and zip code. I am not sure if the owner of the domain name is forwarding traffic to this fundraising page or if Senator Warren and her team have set up a forward for traffic from Pocahontas.com.

Every time the President offensively refers to Senator Warren as “Pocahontas,” I bet people visit Pocahontas.com out of curiosity. Smartly, Senator Warren and her staff are tapping into this curiosity with a fundraising plea. Smart move.

  1. “I bet people visit Pocahontas.com out of curiosity”

I bet it occurs to virtually no one to do that, and the public has been so dumbed down about what domain names are and how they work, knowing less than they did in the 90’s, that many would not even know how anymore.

    • I beg to differ.

I can see the search coming to my original blog post about the domain name, so if people are searching for it and ending up on my website, they are undoubtedly typing it in on their own.

    • You beg to differ, ay? Well I dig to beffer.

Your statement is obviously speculation about the public in general, is it not? As in, how people in general used to do so much more typing in back in the old days before Google succeeded so well in dumbing the country down. But is it not reasonable to surmise that what you are witnessing is likely and mainly the activity of targeted search by those who do know a lot about domain names, are domain aficionados and would certainly have such a targeted interest, rather than the general public? Methinks so…

  2. She has been claiming Native American heritage since she was very young and got into Harvard, I think it was, by claiming her heritage with no proof, only family hearsay supposedly, and was given special status at the school, so she put herself in the spotlight for criticism, not saying what Trump said was right.

  3. Spot on with your assumption about traffic to domain. Domain caught mainstream media’s attention and made prime time news today. Big traffic increase to the domain. Tonight on Fox News Tucker Carlson show, he did a piece on her and the cook book she wrote years ago with plagiarism called “Pow Wow chow”. Anyway, he said on air about her using this popular slogan to her narrative advantage; and if folks did not believe it, just type in pocahontas.com. The correct spelling “Pocahontas”(W/O the .com) was under her picture while they where talking. Pocahontas.com certainly gets traffic.
