Top 10 People I Find Most Interesting on Twitter

As of today, I only follow 58 people on Twitter. At one point a year ago, I followed many more people, but I found it too distracting and pared down my list so that I don’t miss a “tweet” from the people and companies I find the most informative. My twitter handle is @dinvesting.

I want to share 10 Twitter users I follow that I find the most interesting with respect to domain names and Internet news. Some of these are people I’ve never met or done business with, but their posts are frequently interesting and they also post links to articles I enjoy reading.

Who do you find to be the most interesting Twitter user as it relates to the domain business? Who should I follow that I am not following right now?

  1. With respect Elliot, if you’re working as hard for your business to get the most out if it…how do you even follow 10 people, let alone 58?

  2. Out of the entire world of interesting people you only follow 58 people? That just shows that like me, you don’t have much interest in using Twitter. That or you just don’t have much interest in anything πŸ™‚

When I first signed up (and for DogWalker.com, Burbank.com, and other sites), I followed a lot more people. I found that it was like drinking out of a fire hose. I was inundated with auto posts, and other crap and found it frustrating and annoying. Since I primarily use my blog’s Twitter account for business information and learnings, I keep the follower count pretty low. I should probably take it up but don’t want it to turn into a distraction.

  4. Elliot,

I think you are missing the point about social media. It’s not supposed to be a place for you and a couple of your buddies chit-chat, that’s called a chat room. With 10 to 58 names, you might as well establish an email ring, or chat group!

You shouldn’t pare your list down for crying out loud. And you have this tendency form inner circle and inner circle, why leave out some people’s names out of the list? It’s very very arrogant in my opinion, Elliot?

As I said before, it’s like drinking out of a fire hose. I miss the more important things when my Twitter feed has 50 new comments every second I refresh. I use Twitter much less when I follow many more people.

However, I am willing to try it again, so I will follow more people to see if it’s beneficial. Thanks for the advice.

BTW, I don’t think it has anything to do with arrogance. More like ADD than anything.

  6. When it comes to traffic to websites, I doubt if there’s a panacea. I’m sure you know about that more than just about anyone. Your SEO acumen is way up there. I was just thinking that a lot of people who consider you “friend” must have been disappointed not to see their name on your list of 10. But we can move on…it’s your blog and I like commenting on it. Even if I have to be brutally honest. I read your newer blog entry, and agree with you there.
