Pax.com Sold for $200k at Sedo

According to a tweet posted a few moments ago, Sedo domain broker Dave Evanson brokered the sale of Pax.com for $200,000.

Current Whois record shows Sedo’s escrow service as the registrant of Pax.com. Prior to this account change, the domain name had been registered under privacy since 2006. At that time, the domain name had been owned by a California company, although I am not sure if the domain name had changed hands anytime from 2006 until the date of the sale.

Because the domain name is in Sedo’s escrow account, it is unclear who acquired the domain name.

Pax is often used to mean “peace.” A Google search shows that there are many companies and businesses who use the Pax moniker for their company names or for their brands. Wikipedia shows quite a few listings for “pax.” The top results for a search of “pax” (for me) are a conference called Pax and a vaporizer called Pax.

According to Namebio, Pax.com last changed hands for $30,000 in 2006. The domain name had been listed in the TRAFFIC auction that year, but it apparently did not sell during the auction.

It will be interesting to see who bought Pax.com and how the domain name will be used. Perhaps it will be a big upgrade for one of the many companies using Pax in their current url.
