Nominations Open for THE Domain Conference Awards

I received an email from Howard Neu announcing that nominations for THE Domain Conference Awards will open today at 9am. After the nomination period closes, the final award voting will be managed by Escrow.com. The awards will be announced and handed out at the September 29th award luncheon held during THE Domain Conference.

To nominate a person or a company for one of the award categories, you need to send the following nomination information to Nominations@THEDomainConference.com. The nomination period ends on Thursday, August 20, 2015, so your nominations need to be received by then or they will not be counted.

Here are the categories and nomination format:

Some Thoughts About TRAFFIC Awards

Following the TRAFFIC conference awards, I had a brief discussion with a couple of friends about the voting process. The genesis  of the discussion was that some nominees reached out to friends, clients, and others to ask for their support for the awards.

I think this year’s TRAFFIC Award voting process was improved from prior years, and it seems to be a  fair way to conduct voting. Some people may have opined that  it doesn’t seem like a total industry award because you have to be on the TRAFFIC email list to nominate, but I believe anyone can sign up to be on the list. I think it’s smart to do it this way because it cuts down on fraud and lessens the chance that someone can stuff the ballot box. I think having a third party, Escrow.com in this case, review the votes (just like the Domainers Choice Awards used a third party service, too) was also a smart idea.

Some people may feel like industry awards

My TRAFFIC Awards Ballot

I’ve never done this before, but I want to share the 2014 TRAFFIC Awards ballot I plan to submit at some point this afternoon, with a bit of commentary. Most of these selections were difficult choices to make because there are many deserving people and companies in the domain space.

The nomination period is open today through this Friday, August 22nd at 6pm (Eastern). A person or company needs to receive at least 3 nominations to be listed on the final ballot. I believe you need to participate in the nomination period in order to cast a final ballot, so if you are the type of person who complains that the nominees are the same each year, you should make your own nominations.

I am sure I will think of someone else (or another company) later on who may be more deserving of recognition. When it comes to the final vote, I won’t reveal my selections because I might realize that I screwed up and omitted a better choice. Having more options rather than a blank slate tends to do that.

Voting for Domainers Choice Awards Begins Today

If you submitted nominations for the 2014 Domainers Choice Awards, you should have received an email this morning from Donna Mahony inviting you to vote for the award winners. Voting begins today, and ballots may be submitted from now until May 30, 2014.

The voting is being conducted by a third party voting company called VoteNet, and it is only open to people who submitted nominations. The email that was sent contains a user name and password to ensure that people vote only once.

There are 16 categories of nominations, and there are three nominees per category. The winners will be announced at a dinner celebration at the Dana Point Yacht Club in Dana Point, California on June 28, in conjunction with the annual  DBR  FunFest. Tickets for the event are currently for sale and cost $97. The awards dinner is open to the public.

I appreciate those of you who nominated me / my blog for two categories, and I wish all of the nominees good luck.

Domainers Choice Awards Nominees Announced

The nominees for the 2014 Domainers Choice Awards have been announced, and I have posted them below by category. Thank you to those who nominated me for awards. It’s always nice to be recognized by my peers, and I appreciate it, although I don’t believe I am deserving of either award. From the looks of it, there were some excellent nominations made.

Voting for the Domainers Choice Award winners will be made using a third party voting system. beginning on May 8th and run through midnight on May 30th. Award winners will be announced on June 28th at a ceremony in Dana Point, California. More information about the Domainers Choice Awards, voting, sponsorships, and the award ceremony can be found on the DCA website.

2014 Domainers Choice Awards Update

DCA LogoLast September, I shared the news that Donna Mahony announced the Domainers Choice Awards would be returning. The Domainers Choice Awards were established as a way for people in the domain investing business to honor their peers, and they were originally handed out at DomainFest in 2008. Donna Mahony shared an update about the 2014 Domainers Choice Awards, and I want to share it with you.

Nominations can be made by anyone, and submissions are welcome beginning on the morning of March 8, 2014. The nomination period will conclude on March 22 at midnight EST. Once the nominees have been tabulated, the top 3 most nominated people or companies will be up for each award, and voting will be managed by Votenet.com, a third party voting platform. Voting will run from May 8 through midnight on May 30th. Anyone is eligible to vote for the Domainers Choice Awards.

The winners of the Domainers Choice Awards will be announced
