Offer a Cyber Monday Domain Deal

We’ve all been in negotiations that don’t end well. Our price is higher than the buyer was willing to spend, and we got stuck on our asking price. Perhaps today is a good day to rekindle the negotiation and offer a Cyber Monday deal for the domain name.

People have come to expect great deals on Cyber Monday. My inbox has been full of companies offering special prices for Cyber Monday and even “Cyber Week” in some cases. Point is, people are looking for deals online today, and why not try to close some of your old leads.

Now that most of the email newsletters with special Cyber Monday deals have been deployed, it might be a good time to send a follow up. Perhaps you can let the prospective buyer know that you will consider a price 10-20% below what you previously quoted. You can let them know you are making the price concession after being deluged with deals and special offers from large companies.

It can be difficult to go back to a negotiation with a reduced price and not look either desperate or weak.

I regularly try to reignite older negotiations to try and make deals happen. Sometimes the prospect is still interested, and sometimes the domain name is no longer of interest. Using Cyber Monday as an excuse to give a lower price may be a good way to close deals.

Now that the velocity of Cyber Monday emails has dwindled in my inbox, I am going to reach out to a few companies and try to strike a deal or two. The end of the year is near, people may have unused portions of their budget remaining to be spent, and perhaps a better price will induce them into closing a deal.

There’s probably not much to lose.

    • It has nothing to do with better prices its about volume,volume was always there in the beginning of the net on this day,so retailers created sales not to be left behind yeah you can get Halloween candy dirt cheap now ,oh yeah pumpkins are cheaper too,cant wait to buy my xmas tree in march.Think b4 you write.

    I disagree with your well meaning advice.

    The beauty of being a domain owner is that you make the rules. You don’t need to be reasonable. A domainer is not a merchant with conventional inventory that needs to be pushed. No need to go down in price, Cyber Monday or ever. If the buyer says the price is too damn high, tell them that they can get a worthless p*ece of sh*t gtld for less.

    They will be back.

A lot of these domainers are sitting on millions of dollars,its easy for them to say T h e ll be bacccc like arnold.They sell one domain and could pay for all their renewals till 2525. You actually put yourself in the laymans shoes. I understand your business model ,I myself own 2500 plus domains, estibot may say there worth 3 million dollars but if im not picking up the phone ,making calls im starving.
