Nice Igloo.com Landing Page

I was doing some domain name research today when I came across a landing page I thought was well done. If you visit Cater.com, you can see that it forwards to a page within the Igloo.com website where a potential buyer can make an offer to purchase the domain name. I think it’s a wise idea to forego a limited amount of PPC revenue in the hopes of closing a sale on this valuable domain name.

Here’s what I like about the landing page:

  • It is abundantly clear that the domain name is for sale, and the domain name is is being represented by a professional brokerage.
  • The broker’s contact information is listed clearly so a potential buyer can call the person who should know all of the details about the domain name.
  • Having the broker’s image on the page can help a buyer “connect” with the broker before speaking. There’s probably a good reason why most real estate agents have their photo on listing pages, signage, and business cards.

Here’s what I would change:

  • Stronger call to action to get someone to make a competitive offer
  • Change the heading “THE DOMAIN NAME CATER.COM MAY BE FOR SALE” because the domain name is definitely for sale.

I think it’s wise for the domain owner to let the broker manage leads, especially if the broker has exclusivity. I would want to see communication reports for leads generated from the domain name to stay apprised of the status of negotiations.

What are your thoughts on the landing page?

  1. *** I received this on a random wedding parked domain, and I couldn’t be further from the industry, as I have nothing to do with it. ***

    Hello ,

My name is Axxxx Pxxxxx and I am a domain advisor with Igloo.com. We specialize in branding and domain name sales and acquisitions for VCs, developers, start-ups and existing companies of all sizes.

We recently took on exclusive the domain Cater.com and though I know you are bombarded with emails, your contact information came to me as someone who may be interested in this domain due to prior online advertising you have conducted. It’s not just about food! How about spas and the hospitality industry, etc.? This domain is perfect for ANY business that is highly attentive to the needs and desires of its clients. It’s also highly brandable.

Please contact me to discuss how this domain could benefit your business!

    Thank you,

  2. Sedo had removed most their parking layout landing pages. Currently they don’t have a landing page CLEARLY shows “this domain is for sale”. I previously used a template named “sales lander” that one is not available any longer. It seem like they are more concentrated on pey per click revenue, not sales.

  3. @Eliot

Most of my domains are with Sedo, and I am very satisfied with the services Sedo providing me. but I’m just a bit fed up which their recent changes.

What do you think about Sedo’s current landing pages?

  4. Thank you Elliot for your post. We appreciate it and your constructive feedback, always welcome! Ron, I am happy to talk with you at your convenience about our marketing efforts with respect to Cater.com. Please feel free to get in touch with me directly.

  5. Where is gone the financing option on which DNS was working (and offering to someone for a test: Mr.Berkens wrote a post about it…) almost 1 year ago?!?!

    FINANCING – FINANCING – FINANCING

It is difficult to pull out from my pockets $ 30K CASH FOR A DOMAIN!
But if you show “me” some relaxed payment plans, CLEARLY AND IMMEDIATELY UNDERSTANDABLE, etc.etc.you have much more chances to turn on my desire…

ABC of sales, but it seems no one is really interested… It is a shame: brokers propably think they want stay away from financing, they don’t want PUSH that option, but it is a stupid strategy, sorry, a strategy that bring everyone to sell NOTHING or in any case much much much more less than what would be PUSHING THE FINANCING MODEL.

ABC of sales…(even A only during economic crisis…).

  6. It is simply a suggestion about how making landing page for domain that convert more.

Let say is my “Here’s what I would change”, using your own words.

    Thank you.

  7. Re: DNS’s financial option, someone from top management told me they’re cautious due to fraud and risk factors.

Elliot, thank you for sharing. When it comes to a for-sale landing page, the focus is getting the prospective buyer’s info. If Igloo is using more of this page, it’d be an indicator it’s working.
