NameMedia Job Opening: Premium Domain Name Analyst

I saw a NameMedia job opening on LinkedIn, and I want to share it in case you might have an interest. NameMedia, based in Waltham, Massachusetts, is looking to hire a “Premium Domain Name Analyst.”

Usually, I hear about job openings at domain industry companies that aren’t really focused on domain name values or investing, so a good candidate might not necessarily be someone with domain industry experience. This particular job opportunity looks like it would fit someone with domain industry experience, which is why I wanted to share it with you.

Here are the responsibilities and experience necessary for the candidate:

Responsibilities:

  • Build and enhance models to define valuation of domain names based on extensive internal database of sales history as well as external data
  • Deliver harmonized data from multidimensional data sets to ensure high data quality and integrity
  • Apply linguistic and econometric principals to domain valuation
  • Expand multilingual support for domain portfolios
  • Communicate and successfully operate within distributed multi-department project teams to deliver superior products
  • Leverage prior experience with new product development and participation on new product delivery teams to deliver on-time on-budget on-spec

Requirements:

  • A track record of working with diverse data sets to deliver insightful analytics
  • Experience bringing new products to market
  • Broad knowledge base of structured and applied linguistics
  • Experience with Econometrics theory
  • Attention to detail
  • High professional standards, diligence
  • Creativity, ability to think outside the box
  • Knowledge of at least one foreign language a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree.

You can tell that the ideal candidate would need to have experience from outside the domain name industry as well, I want to pass this along to you in case you are looking to switch things up and/or if you are looking to get involved in the domain industry on a full-time basis.

  1. This job is made for you, Elliot.

There’s no doubt in my mind that you are qualified for it, the question is if you’d want it. I hereby recommend you for the job, and will give you a positive nudge over there.

I just hand-registered SummerRelease.com what’s your opinion on the name? I will develop it myself.

    • I have noticed that a lot of industries, from big media, to tech manufacturers, to blockbuster movie houses, release their flagship products in the summer, and they spend quite a bit of money promoting these events, sometimes from January to the summer in question, and before you know, it is time to promote the next summer release for the following year; so in fact, it is a perennial campaign, or at least 365-day thing! Therefore, I am researching the best approach. I will need a developer to do a light site, where they can promote their stuff on SummerRelease.com via API or space rental way. We will go on television to make it the venue for all blockbuster releases; from movies to the next iPhone, or Android, or Microsoft, or whatever.

  2. Some mad skills they expect. You ONLY have to be a data scientist, economist, and a linguist πŸ™‚ Anyway, I believe it’s ‘structural linguistics’, not ‘structured linguistics’ πŸ˜›
