Did Mike Mann Dethrone the “Domain King?”

Mike Mann is not one to shy away from controversy, and his Facebook post this morning shows this:

Mike seems to be implying that he is the “Domain King” rather than Rick Schwartz (who owns the Domain King trademark and has been referred to as the “Domain King” for a long time). I think Mike and Rick go back many years, so it will be interesting to see how this discussion goes.

At the end of the day, I don’t really think it is important who is called the “King” of the industry. The bottom line is the bottom line, and nicknames don’t really matter. Rick and Mike are both successful, and I think they both get the respect they deserve based on how the industry views their achievements.

  1. I was just thinking about all that cash Mike has to dish out on all those RENEWALS. He’s got some 200K plus domains – not all gems. Rick has under 10k domains – mostly all gems.

  2. I would say that I guy that owns 350,000 domains and sells millions of dollars worth every year definitely should be considered a Domain King.

  3. Rick is the Domain King. Will someone else take the crown? Probably, but not for a very long time.

Tough call on who gets the maximum dollars on their domain sales? Rick gets maximum ROI on super premium domains. Mike gets maximum ROI on some domains I would have parted with for 1/4 of the sale(s) amount.

They both are at the top of their game(s).

The key in domain selling, ironically, is not to be too keen on selling. & both of these guys are brilliant at this.

  4. The answer is simple and I already thought of this before. Mann’s question is simply flawed.

In the world, there is no such thing as one king and there never has been, although God is the one true king of all.

So just as there have been kings of Spain, France, Germany, etc., so too there is more than one domain king. But there is only one whom we refer to as that. šŸ˜‰

  5. Stop it y’all with this cult of personality. It is flawed and reflects mental pathology.

Be your own Boss. YOU are the KING. We all are.

It’s this same sheep baaa baaa baaa mentality that has gotten us into the situation that we are in now with CLOWNS making executive decisions that affects how we live.

    Focus in YOU.
