Portfolio of LLL.net Names Move from NameFind to Domain Capital

I use a variety of tools to monitor domain names as they are bought, sold, and otherwise transferred. This morning, I saw that a large portfolio of three letter .net (LLL.net) domain names moved from GoDaddy’s NameFind portfolio to Domain Capital. My guess is that the domain names were acquired by a buyer who used Domain Capital for financing.

The LLL.net list is quite extensive. In fact, I could only see approximately 500 domain names that changed hands due to limitations on my DomainTools domain monitoring account, and that includes other domain names that changed hands.

In looking through the list relatively quickly, I didn’t really notice any patterns with respect to the domain names that changed ownership. For instance, some of the domain names have consonants, some have vowels, and some are a mixture. My guess would be that someone was able to work out a favorable end of the month deal on a portfolio of LLL.net domain names.

Because I don’t know how many LLL.net domain names changed hands nor do I really follow the .net market to know wholesale value of these names, I couldn’t even guesstimate the value of the domain names that changed hands.

I am going to reach out to Vince at Domain Capital and Brian at NameFind to see if they can comment on the transaction. Based on past history, I am quite sure neither will offer any information.

  1. Run a REPORT of all LLL.net, and see which have a updated date of one you know, you will see a list of them all.

You will also know as the domains will move to Domain Capital Registrar which will be shown as well, so if few other LLL.net happened to be transferred and not go to the same registrar, then can tell as well that Domain Capital DIDN’T get those.

I did one for you…NOTE updated date is the 29th so this deal was done 3 days ago.

  2. Domain investor purchased them and it was 1,600+ LLL .net’s (no more than 1,699). Pretty easy to see who the specific investor was with minor digging, buyer was not Domain Capital though.

    • OK SpongeBob SmartyPants…

      Who was the buyer …

SHEESH..you brag that you that you found it with “minor” digging, yet you don’t share.

    • If a buyer isn’t displayed in whois and they go through the effort of hiding who owns the name servers etc. the majority of time I will respect them and not mention publicly who they are. If it’s a company, I will suggest who I think it is but not as much on an individual investor level.

P.S. I don’t brag, I share almost daily a hell of a lot of information that helps the domain industry in many ways. I think I have well proved myself to know who the buyer is.

I did share with Elliot via email the minor digging to connect who the buyer was and feel he would also consider it to be minor digging. One publicly available, free domain related website + a known domain =’ed the answer. Connecting the dots is really pretty easy if you try and think a little.

    • I guess Tony doesn’t have kids and or has never watched SpongeBob and Patrick …

      1st Sentence is humorous.

      2nd Sentence, A simple Question.

3rd I had to “goat” Jamie to make him feel guilty about NOT sharing …

Conclusion: If you think that was a hater comment, I will cut and past TRUMP supports MEME’s from facebook as guest post on domaininvesting blog to show you REAL ACTUAL HATE … with ZERO HUMOR 🙂

Knowing or Not Knowing, I really don’t care … I get the same report as Elliot from Domaintools which is a daily registrant change report.

  3. I think they will be a good investment, just had an end user LLL .net sell last week and while I will not share the price it was good for both myself and buyer since comparable dot com would have been much more.
