Heritage Auctions Should Buy Heritage.com

HA.com LogoOne of my favorite listings on Flippa right now is Heritage.com. The domain name is being brokered by Chris Waters (of Domain Holdings) and it has a buy it now price of $300,000 with a $100,000 minimum offer. I think this is the perfect domain name for Heritage Auctions.

Heritage Auctions already has a fantastic domain name in HA.com. You can’t get shorter than HA.com, and it is certainly easy to remember. Heritage.com would also make a great name for Heritage Auctions, since that is a major part of their branding.

Owning Heritage.com would also make it very easy for the auction house to expand beyond auctions. I have no idea whether or not the company has sales that aren’t specifically auctions, but owning Heritage.com would give them additional flexibility.

Perhaps most importantly, spending $300,000 (or less) on Heritage.com could give their domain auction business a boost. When the company is promoting its domain name auctions, it can use its own acquisition of Heritage.com as a case study for buying great one word .com domain names. Heritage Auctions has facilitated the sale of some exceptional one word .com domain names such as Digital.com, Classic.com, and Import.com. By being a buyer of their brand matching .com domain name, they could really show other companies that they believe buying a great domain name is important for a business.

Heritage.com is probably my favorite listing on Flippa, although I have not spent a ton of time looking (and I don’t think I have ever even bid or listed a name for sale there). If Heritage.com did not have a 6 figure price tag, I would be a very interested prospective buyer because of the utility of a great one word .com domain name like this. I think buying Heritage.com would benefit Heritage Auctions.

    • Thanks for taking a peek, Elliot (and congrats on your incredible efforts in fundraising and finishing your race!)

We are happy to give you a private tour anytime; we have some really stellar domains in the queue, courtesy of Domain Holdings and our marketplace brokers.

@Aron ~ Just dropped you a line. Looking forward to speaking.

  1. Considering a central focus of their core business deals with online transactions, this seems to be a no-brainer. If nothing else, it would help them to lock up security issues if a spammer/phisher happens to purchase it instead.

  2. Hello Elliot,

We agree with you 100%, Heritage is leaving a Cash Cow .COM Profit Center to be controlled by others. They may be realizing this Marketing Strategy Blunder.

  3. I agree. I thought it was already owned by HA until I found it on flippa, a few days ago.

Definitely a good deal for an end-user.

    • Sorry – misread your comment.

I don’t know anything about the other company. When I saw Heritage.com on Flippa with a BIN price of $300k, my first (thought after seeing it priced out of my ballpark) is that Heritage Auctions should buy it.

  4. I’d see many other buyers for a name like this. Genealogy is one obvious market. Jewelry is probably another one. Will be interesting to see if someone pulls the trigger to buy the name.

  5. The two word .com already serves the purpose you are arguing for, Elliot. The problem is prominent people in the industry hurting the industry and hurting themselves with the constant drumbeat about how domains have to be short or one word. If you folks stopped doing that, not only would every one benefit, but the value of your own short and one word holdings would benefit as well.

This domain is certainly worth solid six figures and well suited for some very important uses.

  6. is a good domain, the price is ok, but I hope the seller considers all the other “typos” in the pricing, myheritage.com, iheritage.com, eheritage.com, aheritage.com, ourheritage.com…and so on..plus other extensions, heritage.auction?
