Estibot Tool Reviews

I see people posting about Estibot appraisals in a variety of places, but I haven’t used the appraisal service much. Personally, I don’t think there is a way to appraise a domain name accurately in an automated fashion. I’ve seen that there are other tools offered by Estibot, but I don’t believe I have ever used any of them in the past.

Today, Jamie from DotWeekly said that he is beginning a new series to review several of the tools Estibot offers, and I look forward to seeing what he has to say about them. Every once in a while I learn about a new domain tool, and it’s good to know about helpful tools that are at our disposal.

  1. It drives me nuts when people say a domain sold cheap because Estibot said it was worth 3x as much. Estibot will tell you if you should pay attention to a domain, but not how much it’s worth.

  2. I agree with Andrew, although on the flip-side estibot has its strong points if you know how to use it correctly. If you start to realize the impact estibot has on the auction bid prices you can really come out a winner. I love to find domains that estibot looks poorly on that I feel are worth more. These names usually go cheap in auction due to estibot’s impact. I love to win these auctions.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Estibot has many uses. Primarily it is just another metric in the decision making process. Any factor that is used by the masses in a market is going to have an impact, perhaps not the intended impact.

  3. I don’t know. I’m thinking it is pretty accurate! : )

Just tried my “MiniLaptopComputers.com” and here are the copied results:

    “http://EstiBot.com Domain Appraisal USD 41,000”.

    Will sell for less!

  4. Estibot is as accurate as any one you pay to give you an appraisal which doesn’t say much. It’s worth what the market will bare. I got an appraisal for a 2 word generic for $300,000. Only paid $7 for it. You think it will sell for $300,000? If so I will buy everyone dinner here. 🙂

  5. estibot was good about a year ago, now you cant do half the things you used too unless you pay a crazy amount. pretty dmn crap if you ask me, also the data is pretty old.

  6. Well I see Estibot has revised their website for 2011. Added more information and features. I am fairly new to domaining and have been looking for a way to put a price on domains I register. Could this be it? If not, could anyone tell me the most accurate way to put a price on my domains?

  7. @Lonnie

There is no way to put a value on the domain name. A domain name is worth only what the seller agrees to pay for it. A domain http://www.PHPDeveloper could not be worth anything for a retailer unless he has the expertise to resell it.

I can see the estibot effect in the recent sales through different news letter and auctions. Again its mostly for a domineer and much for an end user, as they do not really understand an automated process like estibot.

    Cheers.
