Domainer Trade Show in Michigan October 2-3

Braden Pollock  emailed me yesterday to let me know about a domain event happening in Michigan in about three weeks. The first Domainer Trade Show will take place at the Mission Point Resort in Mackinac Island, Michigan from October 2-3.

The trade show’s organizer, Doug Haan, has informed me that Bill Sweetman of  Name Ninja  has committed to attend as a speaker  (provisionally), and  Braden Pollock has also committed (provisionally). Digital strategist and author, Jen Wolfe, will be a panelist via Skype.

The cost to attend the conference, including lodging and other benefits is $284.30 per person, based on single occupancy, or $179.28 per person, based on double occupancy.

The organizer understands that the launch and marketing of the conference is late, but he is optimistic that it is the start of something that will become an annual event. From the event website:

Your expectations in attending this initial get together should not be high if you are looking for some sort of massive tradeshow roll-out. We’ll get there in time but it will be brick by brick. It takes time to build something of scale. At the very least you will find this resort a marvelous experience and an even better one if you share it with friends from the industry. Frankly, the value is always in us as domainers getting together; I always learn when ever I meet someone else who owns or has ever owned domains. Our cohesiveness and shared experience is where the opportunities for growth for each of us are found.”

You can read more about the event at DomainerTradeShow.com.

I don’t know Doug (and I am not attending this event), but it’s good to see people taking initiative in the domain space. Later on in October, there is another domain-focused event (Rocky Mountain Domain Conference) in Colorado you might want to check out.

  1. I hope to see lots of people at this event, even if it is last-minute. Kudos to organizer Doug Haan for taking the initiative to mount an affordable domainer get-together. And the resort looks beautiful.

  2. Too late for me this year but I’ll plan on it for next year. The place looks great and all you need for success is a big table and a little food and drink…the domainers do the rest! Best of luck!
