  1. @ Duane

JobsClearinghouse.com does not meet the first requirement.

From my experience, when people submit names that obviously don’t qualify, it makes people less likely to look at the rest of the submitted names seriously.

  2. Career/Job related names only for the company or names that may work well for the verticals (startups, green businesses, etc) you mention?
    Thanks

  4. What is wrong with you people, Maybe you should put the definition of what a REQUIREMENT is with the ad, don’t think people know what that means.

Victor, if there was something known as domain jail you would be sitting in it right now, spammed the thread useless names.

  5. Good suggestions. There are 2-3 very good names listed so far -that im sure that company will consider and even pay up to the 15,000.

  6. Elliott,

Sometimes companies dont know what they want until they see it. (i.e.- Steve Jobs propensity to “show the customers what they want” with his designs/and products.

  7. There’s a couple of problems.

    1. People who can’t read.

    and

    2. Elliot

“From my experience, when people submit names that obviously don’t qualify, it makes people less likely to look at the rest of the submitted names seriously.”

Then handle it. It’s your blog, delete it. Why do you always leave it up when you have threads like this?

  8. Elliot,

I just think JobsClearinghouse.com is a good name and Id like to sell it. I will watch closer for any requirements that are posted. I agree that it is good practice to stay within the parameters of what people ask for.

  9. @ Ron . You think your shit don’t stink. Just because you got into Domaining early…You should help fellow domainers.

    • “You should help fellow domainers.”

      @ Calvin

      This is business, not camp.

I am helping people by letting them know a buyer is looking for a specific type of name. People aren’t helping themselves when they waste the time of others with names that don’t meet the specified requirements.

  10. Based on the requirements, I would like to suggest a domain name that is completely brandable and also very easy to pronounce.

For a company that might be motivating and/or inspiring candidates to connect for growth and success.

    The suggested domain name is:

    UpSpire.com

    1. It is less than 8-letters (actually is 7)
    2. Very much brandable as it incorporates the words “Up” for growth and “Spire” for a conduit.
    3. It also sounds like “inspire” and hence is very easy to remember.
    4. There are no dashes and/or numbers
    5. This is an old domain with first year of creation to 1999, recently dropped, due to it’s age it will rank better with search engines thus will allow companies better brand visibility.
    6. All other TLDs are also available for search dominance.

If you feel that this is something of interest to your client please contact me at contact@muzumdar.ca or amol.muzumdar@gmail.com

Looking forward to hearing from you.

  11. With all due respect to Domain Holdings (who have the right to be picky with their acquisitions), I don’t see there being very many names that fit those limited parameters and are also priced under $15,000.

How many decent, undeveloped 2-word combos are there that are 8 letters of LESS? Even DebtRelief (.)com and LuxuryCars (not my names) would be excluded based on length. The shorter you go, you end up with fewer 2-word options, and get into 1-word .coms, 5L brandables and/or gibberish, 4L CVCV (which would fit the bill nicely), and things like unpronounceable CCCC.coms, which isn’t what they’re looking for.

There might be a few rare cases of CVCVs that would sell for $15k or less, but am I wrong in thinking that most are priced higher than that? A short two-word combo like HotTub would be way over budget, and shorter 3 and 4L .coms that spell words go for 10-25x that.

I just don’t understand what they think they’re going to find. It’s a bit like the posts on Namepros that say “looking to buy one-word Geos – .coms ONLY, max budget $1,000.”

It’s not only that people can’t follow instructions and post pigeon-crap, but I think the parameters severely limit the quality of names they’d be able to get. Most of the names posted (that aren’t consonant-filled 4Ls) are already over the 8 char limit.

  12. Coacting.com

    Doing or Acting together.

    * 5 to 8 letter .COM
    * One or Two Word
    * No Numbers or Dashes
    * Easy to Spell
    * Brandable

  13. It also said in the description that we could go ahead and send our best names to sales@domainhodlings.com

I found a guy who worked there and emailed him asking if he was the guy we are supposed to send to. He said yes so I sent a short list and then a link where he could see more. He emailed me back and said that the names are being looked at by the broker and they will get back to me.

I am sure I am not the only one who reads this blog who did what I did. Maybe that is why there have not been any great ones listed in the comment thread.

  14. laughing my ass off

only one with brains is brad and nadia. of course elliot

yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.com for sale 5k under budget LOL

  15. @calvin

hard to help morons who can’t seem to help themselves by following very specific rules.

It is so shameful to see that a specialized thread like this, people can’t follow some very simple rules, offering stupid names for something that is so specific.

Hey, if you don’t have the right name, move on, someone is not going to hand over $15k if you list enough names.

I can understand why most people get annoyed about these pesky spammy domainer types, that have this sense of entitlement.

  16. Elliot,

Are there any domain age requirements? Obviously most “quality” domains would be more than likely be aged, but there is always an exception I suppose – particularly with one or two word brandables.

  17. I have the following, which I am willing to sell for $15,000 each;

    WISSED.COM

    VIREI.COM

    Has 33,100 Global Monthly Searches.

  18. Meets requirements:

    netdiner.com (at least is memorable)
    goworks.com

    Meets but possible price issue

    exyte.com
    exyn.com
    kantia.com

too long by one or two letters

    knowstorm.com
    careerhawk.com
    careertrek.com

Way too long, nice name, not what they are looking for, but what the heck – make an offer

    GreatChicagoJobs.com

  19. With all due to respect to everyone, why do we need domain names posted in comments here? Is the selection being done from the domains listed in the comments here?

To me it seems that the company does not have a proper team of consultants. As far as I understand the process of brand-creation, companies hire creatives to create multiple brand options. I guess the budget is the main problem here.

The company should come up with some good names and get in touch with the current owners to buy the domains. I guess they can brainstorm a name if they can run a business.

  20. With a baby crying on your shoulder… you must be that bloke in that “What Domainers Really Do” meme circulating today.

As for the survey, not my name but I saw on Sedo ‘JobBox.com’ that seems to fit the bill nicely (listed at 8750 GBP) …

Even a proposed tagline, “Live outside the box” might work for them.

  21. Difficult task:)

I think Impacter.com or Impacters.com would have fit the bill nicely (not mine, but both appear to be owned by domainers, and Impacters is listed for sale).

IMO, those domains elegantly combine the eco and socio aspect with the ad’s strong candidate focus into one easy-to-remember brandable word.

  22. Hilarious

How commenters like @Domains, Ron, Bob, Kevin B (ie the usual rabble ubiquitous commenters everywhere) laugh at other newbies & talk elsewhere as if they “get it”

And yet when a wanted thread turns up they are like the rest of them with crap, unrelated dog shit names

Funny how everyone draws the line of demarcation below THEIR heels

    LOL

  23. Hi,
As per your requirement below, I would like to offer domain names which I own, for further consideration.

    Domains:
:1) KaressU.com (Registered in 2011, was used initially for chat service with mental health professionals and a small multi-career placement section. It is spam FREE. Now it is parked on sedo . It was registered keeping in mind the word ‘care’ or ‘kare’ signifying work with compassion)

    2) ibner.com (Registered in 2012, parked in SEDO. Short and easily pronounceable. Can be a good investment conforming to your requirements)

3)HookPost.com (Registered in 2012, parked in SEDO. Short and easily pronounceable. Can be a good investment conforming to your requirements)

    4)Adscals.com

    5)Adscal.com

  24. enviable has no known trademarks (us search).

the dictionary word could be played with in various ways

    the “en” could signal green/environment

the “viable” could signify a serious candidate for a position

the term “enviable” in itself could position itself as enviable candidates for jobs or enviable firms to work for

  25. Onlooker.com (from 1996) – $13,500

    JOBM.com – $7,500

    BRIB.com – $10,500

    Eraz.com – $4,500

    Twito.com – $5,500

    Ceego.com – $5,500

  26. @Pritam

“The company should come up with some good names and get in touch with the current owners to buy the domains. I guess they can brainstorm a name if they can run a business.”

This reminds me of the recent thread posted here asking for a .TV domain, budget $10,000 🙂

  33. Really…crowdsourcing a name based on budget to a bunch of people with vested personal profit motive?

    Stupid.

Perhaps they (client) should hire an inspired young branding expert to help them? You know hire an expert match vs. a company sending emails and mostly for their own benefit. Sure, domainholdings gets a long list of inventory for future gigs but the client is getting cheap amateurish service, which considering their niche is laughable.

    Sad. Pathetic. Cheap and lazy.

  34. @ unknown

In their defense, they sent this email to clients, and I asked if I could post it because I know readers LOVE sharing their names in the hopes of selling them.

If you were working on behalf of a client with a fairly broad brief, how would you have approached this?

  35. May I add a few more. Trust me these are the best so far… Way better than Bob Parry and winf’s…

    MortgageCake.com
    CareerOilChange.com
    StartupTypewriter.com
    CareerTampon.com
    StartupFlashlight.com
    CircleJerkCareer.com
    ElliotsPostStartupBlogCareer.com

    Oh and JackofallStartups.asia

  36. How about these:

    Hevro.com
    Jiiko.com
    Baywo.com
    Muybe.com
    Pooves.com (one word domain)
    JHNF.com
Roomettes.com (one word domain-9 letters oops)
    Occue.com
    FlipAces.com
    YJMO.com
    eVenom.com
    iGamut.com
    iPulley.com
    CloudSlogan(s).com

  37. @Calvin Wayne

That’s okay. I haven’t regg’d them yet. I was waiting for an accepted offer of no less than $15k. It looks like Victor Paez might beat me to it with Pooves.com. Since it’s the singular of PooPoo.com. But I shall be victorious with MortgageRoomates.co. If anyone is interested I’ll sell it for $4k

    PS: Dot .Co is King!

  38. Elliot, great post. I am glad I happened to stumble upon this. Not normally a commenter here or on any blogs.

I think I have just the name for them: 6 characters – brandable, trademarkable, and is the essence of what they do. A rare match, indeed.

I will write to them later this evening with the details. It would be nice to see domainholdings get a commission on this and you a smaller secondary commission as well, for making the handshake.

  39. Hello Elliot,

I’m submitting a few domains for your client’s consideration. I will include my “green” start-up concept with each one. Thank you in advance.

    Claude

LipColor.com $10,000 (dedicated to natural plant based lipsticks and pencils). The plural is available separately but it’s 9 characters.

ParkCoop.com $2,500 (short for park cooperative – A farm, business, or other organization that is owned and run jointly by its members, who share the profits or benefits).

GreenNFC.com $1,890 (NFC or near field communications is an emerging technology. In many cases, NFC cards or labels can be placed at or near businesses and scanned by consumers using their smart phones. Perhaps someone should focus on biodegradable or recyclable NFC cards and labels before these cards and labels start finding their way to landfills).

  40. @Jack of all Trades

Your list is rubbish indeed but in any case all of your names exceed 8-word rule as well as two words limit. I have had my names valued & meaningful so not crappy at all like yours!

    Sorry Bob

  41. If the company is smart and has a marketing/branding team, they won’t go on this kinda search. They can brainstorm and come up with any appropriate domain name. The company can create a strong saas on the domain sapce and make a fortune. Who would have ever thought that “pinterest.com” had any value atall? but we all see that the value it adds to the social community is way beyond the value of the domain name.

The so called company looking for domains should just engage into some lateral thinking and who knows they might not have to pay even a dime more than the basic registeration fees for the .COM page.

Other than that EB is sure getting a lot of shit throwers, to see what sticks and what could make a buck. Great thread, I am having lots of fun reading it as well.

  42. @Havela
I’m glad you “ROFL”. If you’re interested I have ROFL-LOL-BRB.com available to sell to you for no less than $4k. Just let me know if you’re interested cause i need to register it first. 😉

    @Robert Parry

No hard feelings. I just registered RobertParryCareerMortgageGreenStartups.com If interested I’ll give you a deal at no less than $1k.

  43. @Victor Paez

Wow thanks for the correction. Your name has a wiki page and unfortunately mine is very minimal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poo-poo

I have found that the best investments in domains are the ones that need to be clearly explained and can be referenced using the wiki. As you have pooved, your investment far exceeds the $15k mark due to needing an explanation as well as having a wiki reference…

  44. CareerOilChange.com
    StartupTypewriter.com
    StartupFlashlight.com
    JackofallStartups.asia

lol can’t get off the floor! I’m dying! 😀

  45. CareerOilChange is pretty catchy, IMO! – lol!

Here are some options that I would like the 15K up front before I hand reg them:

    JobsMeme.com
Kulturio.com brandable for Culture Input / Output
    EcoCandi.com

  46. @ jack of all trade

    Your domains are no good:

    MortgageCake.com
    CareerOilChange.com
    StartupTypewriter.com
    CareerTampon.com
    StartupFlashlight.com
    CircleJerkCareer.com
    ElliotsPostStartupBlogCareer.com

    Oh and JackofallStartups.asia

  47. @Elliot

    What would I do?

I’d focus on the critical goal of defining my image and brand and then starting focusing on potential naming solutions. I may engage a small branding agency to help with that exercise if I didn’t have expertise because the image should transcend medium. The image should work in trade, on paper, on card, online and via apps. The budget would be set for the entire exercise and not JUST the name.

I wouldn’t send out a fire and forget missive with a stated budget (i.e. make your $10 name be something you price at $15K…) and I wouldn’t work with any group that used that tactic.

This mailing tactic is great for DomainHoldings. They get inventory input – potential future commissions with very little targeted effort. The client gets little to no personal attention or thought – throwing darts in the dark. The names, the brand, the image should be defined UP FRONT and then sought. You don’t dig for treasure without a map.

If the client didn’t know this? Then DH should have told them. If they are capable of finding and helping small start-ups they should have been able to help themselves.

I believe 100% as amol says – that you could find a perfectly brilliant matching brandable name for way under their budget with a little more planning and a little more discreet approach.

I had a small startup approach me for one of my names and I decided not to sell for the money they offered. I recently saw their site with the name they went with.. it’s 10x the better fit and cost them less, I imagine, so it’s definitely possible.

Image is built and cultivated not defined by constraints that come without meaningful justification – 5-8 letters? Really? You’re looking for something like Touch.com – so break out the wallet, you’re going to need $100K.

  48. @ unknowndomainer, you made a good case for engaging a branding agency!

Touch.com – so break out the wallet, you’re going to need $100K.

It’s smart you knew it wouldn’t go for less than six figures, but I think this one would be considered 7-figure category, min.

  49. @Louise:
Glad to hear I made you laugh! I will be sure to update you first in regards to my offers being accepted for no less than $15k for these keyword rich, category killer domains.
    MortgageCake.com
    CareerOilChange.com
    StartupTypewriter.com
    CareerTampon.com
    StartupFlashlight.com
    CircleJerkCareer.com
    ElliotsPostStartupBlogCareer.com

    @Karl:
Don’t give out our hand reg domaining secrets. It’s the secret of all domain flipping millionaires.

    @Elliot:
please be nice to Karl he only wants to make no less than $15k.

  50. Thanks for being so nice. I do not care if I break even. It is something to do. If I lose a few hundred or so. Who cares. It is like a day at the track but the race lasts an entire year.

  51. @Karl:
Make millions and make some change while doing it. At least that’s what my papa always told me growing up. Then some guy named Mike shortened it up and started writing books about it.
