Dear IREIT, Is Anybody Home? Does Anyone Work There Any More?

About 10 days ago, I posted an article about Internet REIT’s new website, DomainMarketplace.com.   I had received an email from Lisa Box who is VP of Sales at IREIT announcing the newly launched domain sales website.

Actually, that last sentence should read “was VP of Sales at IREIT.”   Apparently, Lisa no longer works at the company, as I found out when I tried to send her an email with an offer on two domain names I am interested in buying. According to her updated LinkedIn profile, Lisa is now Senior Director of Sales at Oversee.net (congrats to both).

When the email to Lisa bounced back to me, I sent another email to a second contact I have at the company who handled a couple of sales for me several months ago. That email also bounced back to me as undeliverable.   I finally sent an email to the email address on the website, and that also bounced back as undeliverable.

I made an offer directly on the website for one name, and I would like to buy a second domain name at the asking price, but I don’t know who to contact and I never heard back about the first offer. At this point, I don’t trust that my credit card will even be processed if I place my order online, so I am not going to place an order. I called their phone number, and of course I got a voicemail prompt.

So my question is… Does anyone work at IREIT anymore? If so, perhaps someone can be in touch so we can do some business.

  1. Funny that you brought that up. I’ve been trying to get in touch with them for a month now regarding some domains that seem to have left the iReit stable without authorization. Since they don’t seem to have any interest in recovering them, I lost my interest in helping them out.

  2. Lisa was great to work with Elliot. She always replied to emails same day and did follow ups, accomidated by making up lists of what you desired. OS hired a good one.

  3. The same here, Lisa responded my first email and silence for 10 days, same thing from the person who is in charge of the site.
So if you get more news from iReit you are welcome.

  4. I too have not heard back from iReit after making an offer on a domain.

Interesting that an iReit employee went to Oversee.

Maybe just a coincidence but Snapname’s shill bidder employee Nelson Brady (Snapnames is an Oversee company) sold domains to iReit while the current General Manager of the Snapname’s Registrar and Aftermarket division was CEO at iReit.

So, there it would appear that there is a long and close relationship to Snap/Oversee and iReit?

  5. +1 @Leonard – today I got a reply about a domain I was interested in purchasing that I inquired about mid July. If you aren’t going to answer in a timely manner, be like iReit and don’t bother answering at all

Would be interesting in seeing if iReit answers eventually and responds to this post.

  6. I purchased a domain from iReit a few months ago through one of the large aftermarket services. While the deal went through successfully, it took close to a month to close as iReit was extremely slow in responding to inquiry and transfer.

  7. That’s too bad. Some nice names for sale on their site. They may be struggling with managing the site after losing top dogs like Lisa.

Might be a nice opportunity …. eHHemm, Elliot?

  8. @ Josh

    LOL

I hope I am the only person I ever work for again. There would have to be a damn good reason to work for someone else and it would have to have a lot of 0s.

  9. Just jivin’ ya EL, lol

I know what you mean about working for yourself. I own a small landscaping biz here in Michigan. Biz is super-slow at the moment, which gives me plenty of time for domaining, however I can’t live off it ….yet.

Maybe I should hit em’ up for a gig, lol 🙂

Here you go. I wasnt contacted for 4 months on a domain and out of the blue this Lauren Carmon contacted me and said they would sell, I said okay 2 weeks later and 3 RUDE emails from her I told them to get lost.

Now . all of a sudden. I get an email from tom.jennings@ireit.com and he started to do the transaction again and said they fired that person. In any event, I chose escrow.com with these people and good luck

    iREIT asking price: $1,178

very nice valuation of their assets and asking price..

I have my eyes set on a few of their domains, though. For me, seeing iREIT not being able to properly value their domains practically means there are some others that are undervalued.

  12. iREIT is no longer in business. i worked there for over a year back in 2008. The company kept doing worse financially and kept laying people off and trying to sell off all their trademarked names. Currently no one even works there at all last I heard.

  13. I was dealing with IREIT too and it took them a long time to respond to my voice mails and emails. Then the contact ceased completely.

  14. same thing for me…. I offered 250$ for a domain, tom jennings accepted the offer, asked me to send my infos quickly what I did and total silence since that time…..

It’s a good way to do business

  15. AVOID both IREIT and… even DOMAINMarketplace…

having paid Tom Jennings money in December for a domain, I got access to a site to adjust settings. Only problem is, they never took care of the back end, so I am out money, out the domain, and it looks like, acts like, and smells like FRAUD.

Repeated requests to anyone, any email, and the phone have gone without reply. Have a site, but out of biz??

As i unfold my mess, I now heard they were not compliant with ICAN registry. DomainMarketplace has the same sneaky, no address, no phone to find anyone feel, and supposedly took over IREIT.

AVOID using. They should be in JAIL. And, the only way to regulate this is for the INDSUTRY to AVOID ever hiring people on the team, who had to know what was going on.

  16. They’ve accepted my offer.
How would you suggest I obtain the domain? Is this a scam, or should I just bite the bullet and send them the money?
Or does anybody know of any other way of getting around this?
Is escrow.com a reliable way of dealing with money?

  17. Hello Elliot, hello all.

I am currently in the same position, having bought a domain from them. I was asked for my details and don’t receive any feedback anymore since then.

Elliot, did you ever receive the domain you bought from them? anybody else?

  18. Hi Frank, After I posted that post, I went ahead through escrow.com and I bought evermade.com and it took about 2 – 3 weeks for everything to fall into place. But it was worth it. Don’t forget to visit http://evermade.com to see how things progress!

  19. Thanks for your replies, I hope everything will play out well…

By the way: what exactly took so long, getting access to their portal or the transfer to another registrar?

  20. I also had a domain offer accepted, then an email from Tom Jennings. The email I received accepting the offer upped the price by $20 so asked for him to confirm the price as I thought it was probably only a keying error. 4 days later still no reply! If he does actually reply to my reminder email sent today I will use escrow to purchase. One odd thing in his original email with the wrong accepted price was asking for CC details by email. Need to be careful here methinks.

I paid by credit card and had no troubles. One thing you can do if you don’t feel comfortable emailing is asking for a phone number. The only thing to consider is that someone will probably write your number down anyway, or key it into a computer, so unless someone gains access to your email account, there’s not a whole lot of difference (IMO).
