Dave Evanson Reports 6 Figure Sale of Intranet.com

 

Sedo’s Dave Evanson is reporting that Intranet.com was sold via Sedo for $160,000. Based on the Whois change, it appears that the transaction took place last week.

At one point, the domain name had been owned by a Massachusetts company called ACI Worldwide. Screenshots.com shows an ACI payment systems logo as of 2010, but more recently, it appears that the domain name had been parked at Sedo.

The current Whois information is private, so it appears the buyer would like to remain anonymous. Intranet.com currently resolves to an Internet Traffic parked page. There are many ccTLDs and gTLDs in this keyword that are registered to a variety of individuals and companies.

I called Dave to ask about the sale, and he is unable to provide any information about the buyer. He did tell me that he had the domain name on exclusive and found the buyer on behalf of the seller.

For $160k, I think it’s a pretty solid sale.

    • I don’t know about that.

      Maybe I am wrong, but the “intranet” term seems a bit dated to me. Perhaps it’s because I am out of corporate America and away from corporate intranet networks, but I haven’t heard that term used in a long time.

  1. Found the buyer on behalf of the seller?

    And the seller couldn’t sell it himself using Escrow.com?

    What’s Sedo charging these days 10 or 15%?, at 15 that’s adds up to $24,000 to handle escrow.

    Escrow.com would have cost $1424, saving himself nearly $20,000

    Domainers just love to throw money away.

    • I am pretty sure that Dave found the buyer and made the buyer aware that Intranet.com was for sale. Without Dave’s work locating the buyer, the domain name may not have been sold. Escrow.com handles escrow services, but the company does not broker domain names.

      Of course it would have been silly to spend the extra money if the seller found the buyer on his own, but if Dave brought the buyer to the table and worked out the deal, he earned his commission.
