Daily Poll: Did You Submit Domain Names to the NamesCon Auction?

The NamesCon extended domain name auction is ongoing at NameJet. It looks like there is a little more than one day remaining in the auction, and it seems like most of the highest valued domain names have not yet met reserve prices.

For today’s poll question, I am curious if you submitted domain names for inclusion in this year’s NamesCon auction. Vote in the poll below:

  1. Waste of time takes month to get paid, 25 percent commission, obviously they were more interested in confusing owners with .cam domains, gtlds stunk it up.

  2. I submitted one domain and never got a response after multiple emails so i sold it directly with NameJet…why pay NamesCon extra 10% when u can list it at NameJet directly.
The NamesCon auction results were terrible.

  3. The entire method and the way the auction is conducted does not make sense.
Most of the better domains or at least what they call better are overpriced. It is not the auctions fault, they take what they can get.
What other type of auction sells so few of the lots. None.
A few larger dollars ones sell and it is pure luck.
Great is not worth 900K. I would not even pay 100K for it.
    Profile.com, step.com, officemanager.com? Are you kidding me?
These are a joke. What would you do with them? (no offense to the owners)

Fellow domaineers, what would you pay for domains like this?
I own animation.com. It is the top domain for what it is. Should be worth
much more than these others but it apparently is not.
They try to do a good job. However there needs to be national exposure and not just an auction at a domain conference.
Also, when an asset starts at $1.00, which they should, and say goes up to
12K and the owner wants 200K something is wrong. Most domains are not liquid, and the owners want far more than what is reasonable. Companies for the most part are stupid. Another domain of mine in the sale is golflessons.com. There is NO better domain for this subject. How can profile.com or impression.com come close to it? They can’t. No offense but they stink. How can the PGA or many other organization not buy this, just to have. Makes no sense. 100K is nothing for this domain.
I let dancelesson.com sell for 23K. This is another domain that is the best for what it is. Time to sell, getting old. Sold pocketwatches.com this year for 18K. They are worth what they are worth. Are all of you going to have them forever?

    • I agree with some of your points but there are also sometimes other reasons why domainers wont part with their domain names. Be it sentimental or other reasons but cash is not always the predominant motivation.

    • Profile.com can work for many projects, website builder, dating, social network, companies & investors search like Crunchbase and more.

  4. It’s an auction, nobody takes it seriously, I sure don’t, some of the bids are bait bids, someone bids right under reserve and they just need a sucker to walk in.

Scrap the whole thing, only take non reserve domains, so people know it will sell, and then watch people bid.

Nobody bids because it is run wrong, old boys network, centralize if, and take the middle man out!

  5. Thanks Elliot
Super is a JOKE. You or I would not pay 100K for it. A total fluke.
We will see what Great and Super get used for.
I agree 25% is nuts. Honestly I did not even know that is what I agreed to.
Sentiment? Who cares. If someone does not want to sell that is their
option but asking absurd prices is insulting.
There are no suckers. If someone wants to pay they pay.
Heritage starts all bidding at the reserves.
I do agree that TOP domain owners can ask anything and wait.
The joke is that owners of mediocre domains mostly are unrealistic.
Orangejuice.com, whitewine.com. Worth not much. Who in their right mind would what them?
But getquotes.com on the other hand is decent and worth X to the right company. Heritage has tried to change the current system but did not work the way they intended.

    • “Super is a JOKE. You or I would not pay 100K for it. A total fluke.”

I know I know… This is a really old thread. But this comment made me LOL and I just had to reply. Whoever thinks that Super.com is a “joke” of a domain name clearly has no concept of powerful branding and should just quit the game right now. SMH
