Daily Poll: Should NameJet Add Bitcoin as a Payment Option?

Someone rekindled an old thread from NamePros last year to ask if NameJet will be adding Bitcoin as a payment option. NameJet’s Scott Pruitt quickly responded to tell him that “Bitcoin payment will not be accepted on NameJet in the immediate future.”

Today’s daily poll asks whether you think NameJet should add Bitcoin as a payment option. It might also be helpful if you share some reasons why the company should add it or why it isn’t necessary.

  1. Bitcoin is to slow, and fee heavy, they would just pass on the cost to buyers.

Something namejet should work on, if they are selling private user domains, they should confirm those domains are at enom, or one of their partner networks before selling them at auction. Don’t have them at Godaddy, then find out they can’t be transferred out, or something is wrong after the fact.

Management needs to take one across the shins for that.

  2. Bitcoin has multiple issues as an actual payment method. There is a reason several companies have dropped it recently.

To start with the price is too volatile. Also, the transactions are either fast and expensive or slow. Either way it does not work.

With a slower transaction the price of bitcoin could have moved considerably by the time it is executed.

At this point Bitcoin’s technical limitations make using it as a payment method impractical for most companies.

  3. I say not it will just enable off shore money laundering from panama and places like Gilbitar, washing the mobs money while pretending to buy sell domains.
