Daily Poll: Do You Work Alone or With Partners?

Since I started my company, I have worked alone. I’ve never really even considered teaming up with anyone else, although there are benefits to having at least one partner. Sometimes I wish I had someone to bounce ideas off of and to get an opinion from another vested party.

That said, I am very glad to not have to deal with a partner. Things may run smoothly, but it could be difficult if you’re not on the same page or don’t agree on a critical business decision. For instance, if you and a partner disagree about an investment opportunity or sale, it could cause issues, especially if this happens regularly.

Like everything else, I think there are advantages and disadvantages to both. There are also some risks for both.

If you’re a domain investor, do you work with a partner or group of partners, or do you work alone?

  1. I work mostly alone, but I have some positive experience with partners

Me and partner invested in one domain name year ago and we sold recently 5x investment price.

Sometimes when you don’t have enough money to invest in the right domain, teaming up with partner is a good option, but you should know your partner very well to make sure you are on the same page.

  2. The best thing about domain speculation is working alone. I consider resources like Domain Investing, Name Pros, Domain Name Wire, Circle ID, Rick Schwartz, etc. to be my ‘partners’. Its easy to bounce ideas off others in forums, comment sections, or a quick email. I find this option better than a partner, because strangers will tell you your idea is pigeon shit quicker than a partner…

  3. I’ve been working alone but would be open to a partner. It would definitely help with acquisitions, as well as cut costs by dividing labor.

With that being said, it would have to be someone more along the lines of a friend; not just some random person who’s willing to front capital.

  4. I work with brokers, not partners.
I’ve worked with a partner in the past, but occasionally there would be differences of opinion(s) per accepting or declining or countering offers.
Many siblings and husbands & spouses/wives seem to have been successful.

  5. Why isn’t there a “both” option?

I primarily work on my own but have a few partnerships too.

You only have so much bandwidth, and sometimes working with others can help you accomplish a lot more than you would on your own. Half of a big profit is better than 100% of a much smaller one.
