Daily Poll: What is Crypto.com Worth?

Ron Jackson published an article about the Crypto.com domain name referencing an article written earlier on TheVerge.com. As one might imagine, the owner of Crypto.com has been inundated with purchase inquiries and offers to buy Crypto.com. In the article published on TheVerge.com, several people gave their valuations of Crypto.com, and I want to open that question up to more people.

The owner of Crypto.com seems to have made it very clear that the domain name is not for sale. I can only assume that the owner won’t budge from that position, but things can change when larger offers are made. Maybe it is easy to turn down $5 million for a domain name if you don’t need the money, but perhaps a $25 million offer would mean generational wealth and change the owner’s position. I have no idea if a large enough offer would get the owner to sell Crypto.com, but I thought I would ask readers what they think the domain name is worth.

  1. After the bubble bursts, it’s likely to be worth not much more than your $750,000 offer. Before the bubble bursts, who knows?

  2. I think it’s probably more efficient to ask for a show of hands regarding who among us has *not* made an offer for crypto.com. 😀 I certainly did.

As far as “value” goes, there are certainly some who have chimed in whom I love in the industry like a bear loves honey. Or at least like we’ve been led to believe bears love honey. However, make no mistake: the true value is 8 – 9 figures minimum. Even the $25m Elliot suggested would be a bargain, yes even now (I follow Bitcoin and crypto aside from domains).

And if anyone has any uncertainty about the topic of value they can start here:

  3. The owner said they have not presented with any significant offer via fiat, so I guess $750K is not significant.

I am sure they have been offered millions in funny coins.

  4. Keep in mind this term “crypto” was used before cryptocurrency and banking activities.

I think “crypto” holds value regardless of its extension.

  5. I received a $400K offer on crypto.info in January that I declined.
I think the confirmation that the .com is not for sale seriously raised the value of my .info overnight.

    • Cryptocurrency.com has to be worth $100 Million since the marketcap of Cryptocurrency is $400 Billion + and will hit 1 Trillion.

    • It’s a .info!
You should have accepted the RIDICULOUSLY high offer of $400k.
Not even Crypto.net or Crypto.org is worth $400k.
      Crypto.info is a $5k name at best.

  6. Crypto, BlockChain, & Ethereum (the platform) are here to stay…and will get bigger with greater adoption.

As far as the virtual currencies (BTC, BCH, Litecoin and hundreds others), no idea.

Crypto.com is top shelf. (virtual currency, security, records, finance, transactions, healthcare, etc)

  7. I hadn’t even seen what Matt posted above, so this is a good time to point out the following:

    “crypto.com$ 48,000 USD
    EstiBot fair market value”

    (Just now.)

Someone be sure to remind me later how Estibot and any other such “tool” is not harmful to the industry and everyone.

  8. Someone needs to find out what this man values! Make a market value ($2M +/-) donation in his name to whatever cause he holds near and dear. Everyone has a price and ironically his price is in a different currency. If I had dreams of competing against GDAX/Coinbase I sure as shit would try to make it work

  9. i bet anyone $5000 thru escrow that he will sell this domain before 2019.

why would he put his contact info on his site (2 email addresses) and also not use Whois privacy

  10. The owner is a tenured professor researcher w/expertise in cryptography. He’s owned the name since the early 1990s. He’s turned down 7 figure offers, and says he will never sell it. Dr. Blaze says he’s not interested in being a millionaire.

Ironically, because he doesn’t want to sell it — my guess — someone will make a really high offer and his family will talk him into it.

But who knows? Maybe they are content without having the windfall. He says he will def not sell to anyone in the crypto-currency industry. But not sure how he can prevent that one.
