Daily Poll: Are You Ready for GDPR?

The long anticipated GDPR implementation date is this coming Friday. The Whois system changes that are coming as a result of GDPR are probably going to have a pretty big impact on the domain investment space.

I speculated that GDPR might benefit some domain investors, but I think it will likely cause many more hassles and annoyances than be helpful to investors.

In a post I published earlier this morning, I shared the ways I have been preparing for the implementation GDPR regulations.

Are you ready for the GDPR implementation that might impact the domain investment space?

  1. I am more prepared for Memorial Day than GDPR.

But, all my names have sales options……will have to roll with the punches.

  2. GDPR is General Data Protection Regulation that aims to protect private data of citizens of the EU. Even if you are not operating in that jurisdiction but you get visitors from the EU you hope to do business with, then you need to be GDPR compliant as well. It is mainly targeted at companies whose business model relies hugely on data harvesting such as Google, Facebook, other social media companies and online marketers. But it does have some common sense rules such as having an easy to understand, non-legalese, privacy policy and permanently deleting private data when requested. I am not a lawyer but my understanding is that GDPR compliance can actually build more confidence in prospective buyers. Which is good for business.

    • “aims to protect private data of citizens of the EU”

So, the whole internet community worldwide has suffer because of a FEW people in the EU who want to keep their privacy.
(I would bet that 90% of the EU population does not care about domain privacy.)

      EU population 511 mil
World population 7,600 mil (7.6 bil)
      EU / world population 6.7%

Is this a classic case of the ‘tail wagging the dog’ ???
