Contest Final: 5 Worst Domain Names – VOTE NOW!

Thanks to everyone for submitting what they believe are their worst domain names. I got a lot of really terrible names, so it’s no wonder domain registrars stay in business!  Only kidding… I have plenty of crappy names in my portfolio.

Anyway, after careful consideration, I have selected the 5 domain names I personally believe are the worst based on the rules I listed. Please vote for the name you think is the worst, and the leading vote getter by Sunday night will win a $50 payment from me and will push the domain name to me.

  1. What happened to my selection? ElliotsBlogSucks.com??

    🙁

    I find NO love…

I have to go troll else where….. :(…

Maybe it is next week for the BEST domain name award!@!

  2. Hi Elliot,

    IMO…

You should have one more selection: ‘all of the above’ 😉

Anyway, these were most likely register by people that were and did not have very much knowledge of domain names in the first place….’obviously’.

    But,

Here is an example of a company that should know just a ‘bit’ about domain names and marketing…you would think.

    But,

    Given thir knowledge and expertise…

IMHO the domain names they are using for this marketing promotion…are just as bad as the ones listed above…on a relative scale.

Verisign Contest Asks Small Business Owners, “Where Will .com or .net Take You?”

    http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Verisign-Contest-Asks-Small-iw-1591902529.html?x=0&.v=1

    ___

    Domain Names:

    DotComForSmallBiz .com

    DotComForSmallBiz. net

Seems to me they would have used something better than these.

    Best!
    Dan

BTW: I am sure they could have found a nice: .CO ::)

  3. Hi,

” What are your plans for the winning domain?”

    ____

I think we all know the winner is going to be:

    ” Balck-Porn .com

Somehow I do not see Elliot going into the ‘porn business’… “balck” or otherwise 😉

    So, I say…very good question.

    Best,
    Dan

  4. Free-Dialup-ISP-Internet-Access-Provider.com gets my vote.
There is no way in hell that anyone would type that out much less remember it!

  5. Hi Alan,

When “Google’ fist came out…long hyphen names like this, was a common “SEO tactic”…

Because, some/a-lot of “SEO experts” came out saying “hyphened” domains/websites seem to rank higher in Google’s search results.

It was most likely used for this purpose…

    Best,
    Dan

    —————

Maybe but he does have the right domains to launch spin-off sites from…

    burspank.com
    Doggiestylewalker.com
    Blowell.com
    Facedownonyourbdomaininvesting.com

I could go on and on. If you guys register this names, throw me a finders fee please.

(I know I’m at or near the line with the post, so feel free to delete this Elliot if it’s too much)

  7. Hi Alan,

    IMHO….

If “OilBlobs .com” was the worst domain you ever registered…your way ahead of the game!

I have registered some that…you could not get me to tell you even if you were to: “Water-Board” me!

    I would not crack… 😉

    ___

BTW: OilBlobs .com might not be bad, as it has to mean something…

Every extension for it is currently taken.

    Peace!
    Dan

  8. @ Elliot

The plan is to let the winning name expire and put it out of its misery.

    ————-

I know it’s probably not what you intended, but I find this straight forward pretty funny.

  9. “The plan is to let the winning name expire and put it out of its misery.”

If only; i.e. if it expires “to” NameJet, some really smart (sarcasm off) self-styled “domainer” will “snap it up” for at least $100.

  10. I would most definitely have to say “Free-Dialup-ISP-Internet-Access-Provider.com” just because it is way too long with so many words and dashes and, it’s just plain boring. People would give up just trying to type in that domain name. It’s also very hard to remember; if it’s not catchy, no one is going to remember it either.

  11. Hi,

I think I came up with a better idea than just putting…

“baclk-Porn” out of its ‘Misery’ by letting it expire.

I say add a year or two of registration to it and then ‘re-direct’ here…

    http://jcsgirls.com/

Let people that should happen to stumble upon the URL…feel a bit guilty & miserable…while their wife and kids are in the next room. 🙂

    Peace!
    Dan
