Company Rebrands as Revenue.com

Revenue.comYesterday afternoon, a press release published in the Wall Street Journal announced that a company called VIRURL, Inc. has smartly rebranded itself as Revenue.com. In the video I embedded below, company CO-Founder and CEO Francisco Diaz-Mitoma explains what the company does. The video hasn’t been updated to reflect the name change, and you can hear and see how the original brand name might be confusing to some.

According to the press release, this advertising company’s mission is “giving publishers the needed tools to earn more ad revenue,” and Revenue.com would help them get that message out there. Perhaps it’s just me, but a name like Revenue.com sounds like it would be a financial or accounting companny rather than an advertising company. Based on its mission, it will probably be a good fit.

The Revenue.com domain name has been owned by World Media Group, LLC, a company that owns a portfolio of exceptional keyword domain names like Accountant.com, Consultant.com, Japan.com, and many others. The Whois information still shows that World.com is the registrant of the domain name, so I am not sure if the advertising company bought it, is leasing it, or is possibly involved with the World Accelerator program the company started nearly a year ago. I reached out to WMG for comment and will update this article if/when they reply.

Congratulations to this company for its rebranding efforts. Assuming they have continued success with their platform, their branding would likely have caused confusion. Being able to rebrand as Revenue.com at this early stage was a great idea and having this name as a brand should open doors for them.

Thanks to Jeroen Verschuren for sharing this with me.

    • I doubt it because Whois is still showing World as the owner. If a sale was done, it would either be in Sedo’s escrow transfer account or under this company’s ownership.

Of course, there’s the chance that it was sold and transferred but retained the former owner’s contact information, but I think that is doubtful.

  1. I can’t see this being sedo’s second biggest sale ever either, seems like a small team, who is very creative, and would not dish that much cash into simply a domain, their old domain brand is really creative as well.
