Joe Uddeme Launches Name Experts, LLC

In a tweet this morning, Joe Uddeme announced the launch of Name Experts, LLC, “a boutique domain name brokerage firm that specializes in premium dotcom domain name inventory.” Joe was a longtime domain name broker at Domain Holdings, and it looks like he decided to start his own brokerage firm.

I’ve known Joe for several years, and

ZS.com Now Owned by ZS Associates

ZSIt looks like a company called ZS Associates has acquired the high value ZS.com domain name. The company currently uses ZSAssociates.com for its website. As you can see to the left, the company’s logo is simply “ZS,” so this domain name upgrade will fit right into its branding without much changing.

Although ZS.com does not yet resolve for me, a DomainTools monitor alert notified me of the change of ownership this morning. In addition, George Kirikos noted the registrant change in a tweet this morning:

DomainTools CEO Comments on Pricing Changes

I use DomainTools’ portfolio of domain name tools daily. DomainTools offers an unrivaled Whois history tool coupled with outstanding domain name monitoring tools. There are other domain name tools out there, but my job as a domain industry publisher is greatly aided by DomainTools, as evidenced by the hundreds of references peppered throughout this website.

Earlier today, DomainTools  announced a change to its pricing and membership structure that will increase the membership cost. According to the email a few people sent me, “The price for Personal membership is $99/month or $995/year.” This is significantly higher than most domain industry customers have been paying for many years. The company provided a discount code for customers for the first year, but the price is still considerably higher.

Having known DomainTools CEO Tim Chen for many years, I reached out to him and asked if he could comment on the change. Here’s what Tim told me today:

Guess The Domain Sale Price with NameBio Game App

Over the weekend, NameBio released a new app to put your domain name valuation knowledge to the test. The game is called The Domain Game, and it is available in the Apple app store for all iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch). The way the game works is that it shows a random domain name sale with the name, date, and venue, and the player has to guess the correct sale price range (three, four, five, or six figures).

One of the most interesting aspects of the game is that you need to factor in the date and venue in order to accurately peg the sale price range. For instance, a LLL.com sale on DomainNameSales.com in 2015 will almost certainly be 5 or even 6 figures but a LLL.com sale on Afternic in 2002 will likely be just three or four figures. There will also be those random head scratching sales that will leave you guessing.

To make this game more fun,

Sahar Sarid to Launch DomainingAMA.com

Earlier this week, Sahar Sarid announced a new venture called DomainingAMA.com. Visitors will be able to ask questions of the participants, and the format will be similar to that of a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” interview. Here’s what Sahar said about DomainingAMA on Facebook:

“Next Monday. 3/28, I’ll be releasing a new platform called ‪#‎DomainingAMA‬, it is a Domaining spin on Reddit AMA and for five days a week at noon, est., we will feature one person per day to share and give their all with our community. ‪#‎Domaining‬ will never be the same.”

For those of you who have been involved in the domain space for at least a few years, you probably recall Sahar’s popular domain industry blog, Conceptualist.com. Sadly, the blog is no longer in use, but there was some great information when it was active several years ago. Sahar has done very well in the domain space, and his company owns some exceptional domain names (most under privacy from what I understand).

DomainingAMA.com is scheduled to launch a week from tomorrow, and Sahar published a list of the first five partipants:

3rd Annual DNSeattle Event in May

The 2016 DNSeattle domain investor event has been scheduled for May 12th. The third annual event will be hosted by GoDaddy at their Kirkland, Washington headquarters. It is being organized by DomainSherpa’s Michael Cyger.

In 2014, DNSeattle was held on top of the Space Needle and there were approximately 50 people in attendance. Last year, the event was held at Rightside’s headquarters, and there were about 75 people in attendance. Michael is hoping to cap the event at around 75 people to keep it more intimate. “I want people to be able to see everyone there, if they want the opportunity to speak to them,” he told me.

Advance registration is required, and the cost to attend the event is $15. Making this event even better is that
