Buying Names for $xx-xxx and Selling for $x,xxx Thanks to FreshDrop

I’ve recently started using FreshDrop.net every day because of the valuable information it provides. I primarily use it to scan expired/expiring domain names that will be coming up for sale on Snapnames and NameJet (requires premium account), and I’ve done very well on domain names I found using FreshDrop that have been flipped or received offers.

In the last few weeks alone, I’ve bought several names via Snap and NameJet   that have either received offers for at least double the purchase price (offers over $1k), or I’ve sold the domain names for at least double (under $10k each). Making it even better is the fact that a few of these domain names have had three or less bidders involved in the auction, meaning that I am finding hidden gems. I can say gems without question since they’ve sold or have received offers after buying as opposed to just being my opinion that I have found value where others didn’t. This is a pretty nice return on my investment.

I have a couple of filters that I created on FreshDrop to better enable me to find these names, although there is still the manual process of researching the individual domain names. For example, when I see a name that looks good to me, I will check the # of Google results for the term, the number of companies advertising on Google for the term, it’s GAKT search #s, and just my own gut feel vs. what other domain names companies are using in the market.

I know there are other sites out there that have a similar offering, but if you haven’t tried FreshDrop, I recommend trying it.

  1. So you weren’t paid for this post, rather, you’d like to write this blog article (for free) to publicize a supposed domain profit method where you are making $X,XXX’s of dollars (supposedly)… and increase your competition???

    Yeah, sure.

    • @ Chris

My blog is different from many others because I actually provide information about the shit I am doing rather than talking about the shit others are doing.

You haven’t been reading my blog long enough if you think there’s ulterior motive. I didn’t post the filters I use specifically because THAT would have increased my competition much more than telling people about FreshDrop, and I wasn’t willing to do that. FreshDrop isn’t exactly a covert website, and I am happy to help other people learn about the opportunities in this business.

I’ve never said how much money I earn, and I never will, but I make plenty of money and there’s plenty to be made by others. I am very happy to help people learn about this business. If I didn’t post things like this, all the advertisers on my site wouldn’t be here.

  2. good to know that at least you’re making profit.

could be a little off topic, but I was wandering if you can take a look at my site http://www.ValueDrops.com and give your feedback. I’ve spent a lot of time on developing it, and it already filters and displays best 2 word .com domains for you. All you have to do is go through a list of around 150 domains each day. And it’s Free at the moment. It also display drop status throughout the day.

    thanks

  3. @chris: Psst…over here. Yeah, you.

I found this fantastic website that I’ve made tons of money using and you can too. You seem like a nice guy so I’ll share it just with you and nobody else.

And just to be safe, I’ll put it in code so nobody else reading will be able to figure it out:

The first letter is “G” and ends with “gle”. Then put a couple ‘o’s in the middle and add “.com”.

But promise you won’t tell anyone else about it. It’ll increase the competition and cook my golden goose.

  4. There will always be morons around, even if they are given great information for free.

    Anyway,
Nice to mention this great tool Elliot. I signed up for the pro subscription very recently. The filters are very helpful to allow one to search into niches etc.

    cheers,

ps I haven’t been paid by anyone to post this 🙂

  5. The title is misleading on a mobile since I was expecting to see that you made a loss going down from a buying price of 5 digits to selling at 4 digits after I read it. Good for Freshdrop, though.

  6. There are plenty of good drop finder sites now. Freshdrop and dropday are by far the best IMO and I don’t get paid by dropday, like you , if a friend is doing a great job I like to tell others. It’s how the world works.

I guess you missed the part where I said “** This is not a paid post nor did I use an affiliate link.”

Ahhh… clarified in an email… I thought you were implying that I was paid despite saying I wasn’t… LOL 🙂

  7. Thanks for the tip. I hadn’t checked out Freshdrop in depth, but I did today and picked up a nice single-word .us. The .mobi version sold for $720 on Sedo in 2009, so it was a bargain.

  8. @ Wallace

I like opposing viewpoints and comments that make me think. I’ve discussed my feelings on dissenting comments last year – actually, 1 year and 2 days ago 🙂

    https://www.domaininvesting.com/dissenting-comments

I don’t like personal attacks or cheap shots. I read Shane’s comment incorrectly thinking he was saying that I do get paid despite saying I don’t. It was clarified in a cordial email.

  9. Elliot……what i have noticed is that other domain buyers are broke and you can buy domains cheaply almost anywhere now.

I’ve talked to some domain brokers who are just saying the market is almost dead for domainer to domainer sales.

It’s the end users that are the only ones dishing out the cash it seem to me.

I’ve been picking up $500 domains that would have gone for thousands, bid up by domian investors, as recently as even a year ago .

  10. So where do you sell the domains once you buy them? I have had no luck selling on DigitalPoint Forums…even after buying a domain for $xxx no one even bidded $5 (there was no reserve!)
